BillsburgChief
Just curious, does anyone use the Origin Indicator in the Coordinate System? Am I missing anything? I just noticed it popping up in my v17.
DBCooper
I use it. There are a bunch of settings in preferences so that you can turn it off if you don't want it or change when and how it shows.

But what do you use it for?
MoeGia Posted yesterday at 01:36 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:36 PM It's best to keep your plan close to the origin. If you get too far away from the origin, Chief struggles to model correctly. I have always located the bottom left corner of my plan at the origin. It makes it easier to copy/paste between plans, flip plans, all/most items are located are in the plus direction, easier math, plus the above. DBCooper
Knowing where the origin of the drawing space can be useful for lots of reasons but Maureen brings up a good point that you don't want to be too far away from it. One reason I like to know where the origin is comes up when I am working on something in a cad detail and I want to use x/y coordinates to layout something accurately. It helps when you need to open a dialog that has coordinates when you know where the origin is.
