Need some pointers on how to get the roof on a plan and using multiple pitches.

I know there are designers out there that can point me in the right direction.

Please reply and Ill upload the plan that is in X16

DB,

In regards to the videos, I have not found anything that speaks to the situation when there are connecting structures with different roof heights & ceiling heights, and therefore different roof settings as to single floor next to two story roof pitches. I'm in New England with old homes that historically had additions added and multiple gables intersecting to adjacent roof slope, etc.

The videos pertain mostly to one overall structure with different roof planes.

If I set the Ignore 2nd floor setting and use a 48" raise/lower ceiling height for one structure, (creating "knee walls" on 2nd floor) Chief applies it to all "rooms" and I'm not finding how to have a 2nd story structure in the same design as a single level to get the roofs correct. I end up with structures that are too tall all around or ceiling heights that are not correct.

I am guessing it has to do with sequencing of instructions, but which happens first, the second story structure or the one-level section.

In this scenario, I cannot do auto regenerate because there are so many manual roof lines used to create the look my client is after. Most of the roof planes showing are manually drawn.

Also, because the auto regenerate can't be used, to establish a "gull wing" over the front porch using two different pitch levels doesn't work; I end up with a single plane roof.

Any suggestions or links I'm missing for answers? Using X14

Thanks!

Patty

Hi @Faze5_3D

You should have started your own thread topic.  Conversations on the sidelines don't get the play and participation you need to get to where you want to go.

That plan you show could have readily been autoroofed, if you specified all the rooms and roof directives in walls correctly.  Look at all the models in the Chief samples galleries, and you will see lots of projects with complex roofscapes, and you can bet they all got autoroofed.
