Curb not cutting properly at driveway.

Hello,

I have a few driveways on the plan I'm currently working on and I'm having issues with how they interact with the road curb.

I have a 24" flare on the ends of every driveway, and the curb will cut for the normal driveway dimensions but not for the flared portion. The problem is consistent with all three driveways and they are all STRAIGHT driveways rather than POLYLINE driveways, which seem to cause issues with roads.

I've attempted this in another, empty plan with four driveways much closer together and had no issues so I'm wondering if it's a bug.

All help or advice is appreciated!

Thank you for pointing that out! Unfortunately, I've now realized that due to the size of the plan file it is still roughly 45MB when compressed so I don't think I can upload it in the normal fashion. If there are any other ways to make it available I will definitely try those.

Roads meeting driveways often produce unpredictable joining issues.

Don’t use roads with curbs.

Instead use terrain features that you can shape easily.

Use 3D mouldings to create curbs which you can also shape and manipulate as you want.

More work but way more predictable and the connections will stay as you have drawn them as opposed to the automated curb feature in roads which, even when they do happen to connect properly that can all of the sudden disconnect and produce artifacts like in your post.

This won’t improve ever either. But we’ll get cute new features like 3D dimensions that nobody ever asked for or uses.

To your point, I opened the plan this morning and all the driveways were cutting correctly but the road was jagged where they connected. I don't mind working a little more if I can actually get a consistent result so I will definitely be trying the 3D moulding method. Thank you, Michael.

It seems with these automatic features, the only way they save time is if you have exactly the right conditions to use them in the first place.

Post it to an online site, like drop box, where it can be downloaded.  Or make a copy of the plan and delete all of the stuff that has nothing to do with the problem.

Thank you! I'll be completely reworking the curbs for this plan so I probably won't post it, but this is great information for next time!
