ACADuser
I have a covered Lanai with balcony above, like a deck but not a Deck. I created the balcony with walls & the made then into railings but I want the railing to be inset from the room edge so that it is near the center of my column. How to go about this? dshall
There are multiple ways to do this. Do a search or wait for the different options. Personally, I would define the deck with an invisible wall and then I would make the railing out of a molding.

Or you can make railings outside of the balcony and set them as "No Room Definition" and then move them into place where you want them.
DRAWZILLA
Both way are great but for me it depends on if he included the columns within the railing DBX or not.
ACADuser
So you define the room with "room dividers" & Then draw railing out in space, mark then "no room" and drag them into the room. How is the elevation of the railings controlled? I'll give it a try.
Joe_Carrick
Alan, I'm don't think you want to use a "Room Divider". I personally would use a normal "Railing Wall" (Post to Beam) and suppress the Rails, Newels & Balusters - or use a simple 4" Wall Type and check "Invisible Wall"
ACADuser
Yes, you are correct as room divider left me with no siding on the floor system.
