Making whole house a cad block for use on 3d site terrain model

Does anyone know how to make your entire house a cad block for use on a 3d site terrain model?  I have done this before about a year ago and can't figure out how I did it.  I made the entire house into a cad block and saved it in my user library, then placed it in a separate plan file where I had the 3d site terrain.  This way I didn't have to rotate the site terrain I can just rotate and move the building around on the site.  Thank you!

Referencing the entire model to the other plan is a good option that eliminates the need to create the symbol:

If you want to see it in a camera view, you don't want a cad block.  You want to either create a 3D symbol out of the house or use reference display to show it in another plan.

Get the house designs completed then save as 3d symbol  then into library, name it then open your site plan and insert it. Click on the symbol to adjust height.

So far so good.  I have the separate house showing up as a reference display in my 3d site terrain but is there anyway to control the elevation height as I am trying to show in on a raised or hill portion of the site.  I need to raise it about 30' higher.0

I believe this is how I did it before!  I was missing the part of having to be in a 3d view to have the option to convert to a symbol.  I like this method because there is more control over the elevation of the building vs. the site terrain as I can just selected the symbol and manually move it up or down and around.  Thank you very much for the help!

Why are you building your site plan in a separate file? Why not use the plan with the model, it's far more dynamic, especially since we have additional capabilities when the house is present such as flattening pad and retaining wall intersections
