SHCanada2
why not add another storey if you are going to add stairs?
VHampton
Agreed. Make a second floor and call it balcony or unspecified.
Cadwork22
It's not a bad idea, however it will affect the roof plan, which is only one long gable...
Cadwork22
I created a pline shape, can I convert this into an opening, like push/pull in in Sketch Up
JiAngelo
That trapezoid is the room you need to create on the second floor. Make the room height the smallest trap leg. It will then be under the existing roof. (Unless the height is too tall) Once you are done with any roof work turn auto roof off and then open the room and make it's ceiling the default height you want. Chief will create the trap shape along with a ceiling line telling you where the slope down begins. Make the second floor wall a rail overlooking the lower room. Solution SNestor Posted May 16 Solution Share Posted May 16 Turn "auto roofs" off. Then, build a 2nd floor...the roof will not move. You will need to add walls that have "room definitions" in order to create a "room". Once you have a room...if you don't need/want a ceiling...open the room and turn ceiling off. Creating a room will also create a floor system which you may not want...or maybe you will. If not, you may have to create an attic truss... Hope that helps.
Cadwork22
Thanks! Was able to create the loft without the roof moving.
