Arched or Barrel Ceilings

Recommended Posts

I am working on an old house that has some arched/barreled ceilings and would like to draw them in so our drawings reflect what they currently have. I could use some help with the how-to.

The easiest method would be to take a cross section of the room.

Draw an arch (barrel) using the CAD tools.

Convert it to a molding polyline with a thickness of say 1" times whatever the length of the room is.

Now ain't that a clever solution. I like it.

Methods for building barrel arch:

-ceiling  plane

-psolid

-2d molding

am I forgetting another method?

I also like it if you don't need the framing.

The beauty of the pmolding is it auto gives you both sides of  the drywall whereas the poly solid does not

You could make your PL solid look just like a sheet of drywall if you wanted to take the time to do it.
