i think it's just the angle you are looking at it, try to bring your camera up higher.

Yup, that's Perspective for ya!

 

Changing the Field of View can reduce that effect, too.

Ex: 30 vs 90 (default is 55)

4/12= manufactured homes in my mind. I try and avoid that pitch, except for the exquisite modular homes I do , because any higher wont make it under the bridges when it is on a truck 

 

but your 5:12 does look like a lot of roof.  I might raise the heel hight or change the pitch over the deck so it is broken up

but I prefer gables personnaly, so take my opinion with a grain of salt

 

you could put some skylights in there to break it up

 

or hip the ends for less roof
