4hotshoez
Drawing a straight line cut cross section is best most of the time, however, some situations require a stepped line cut to avoid strange cuts. How can I make Chief do a stepped cut?

rlackore
You can fudge it in layout. Cut two different sections, one for each step. Send both to layout. Drag the edges of the layout boxes so the stepped cuts are displayed properly, side-by-side. In plan, you'll have to manually draw a stepped polyline with callouts on the ends. kMoquin
To expand on Roberts answer you can create 2 side clipped sections. Use a line to accurately place the extent of the side clip. Snap these two sections together in your layout. In the attached images the section markers are live section cameras. (The horizontal line is a cad line but you can set it's properties to match your section line.)
joey_martin
I have used the method Kevin suggests, it's not that difficult to accomplish and works very well.
