TDzine
Hello I am a beginner Chief Architect user hoping to purchase a X8 or X9 Premier License to start out with. I need to keep my costs down as I am a single mother. Appreciate any input. Thank you! TDzine
lbuttery
for just a bit more you can have X10 which introduces plansets to save money I would suggest trying to find X4 or later X4 introduced Annosets stay away from X3 - horrible library system that required subscriptions etc each release offers many new features and it is worth staying current CA offers a rent to own package - so that might make X10 affordable Lew
Dermot
Rather then purchase an older version of Chief Architect I would encourage you to consider taking advantage of our rent to own program or purchasing one of our other products, like Chief Architect Interiors or Home Designer Pro. Purchasing a current version of the software will always give you the most current features, best available support, best available training materials, and access to most current libraries. More information about our rental program can be found here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/software-rental/ More information about Chief Architect Interiors can be found here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/interior-design/interiors/ More information about HD Pro can be found here: https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/products/home-designer-pro/ If you have additional questions, please contact our sales department during our normal business hours. Someone here will be more than happy to go over these options in more detail to help you decide which product best fits your needs and budget. Kbird1
If you did find X8 now and then decided to upgrade to X10 in 6-9 months that is likely to cost you another $1300 , so think about it as X8 does not allow you to buy SSA either , (X9 would if you get it before X10 comes out) you can only get it for the current version but Costs the same as HD Pro ($495) . If you got HD PRO in the next month or two ( wait for 2019 version perhaps? March maybe? ) you would get your $500 back as a rebate on Chief Premier or Interiors in the future. If you can afford the $200 month to rent it maybe a good option , though it dos Cost more in the long run ( Add 20% ) as it is now 16 months x $200 I believe , and if you miss a month the 16mths restarts as they need to be consecutive before you gain Ownership. mfmclelland
I have x9 and I bought it to design my own home. We are built and moved in and I am interested in selling my X9 License. I just called customer service to see how this works and they were all tied up and are getting back to me. Contact me if you are still interested and once I have the info from them I'll post it for sale.

For this week I'll drop to 1800 and throw in an hour online meeting (strengths are remodel, symbols, cabinets, anno sets and layers- not so good with roof, terrain and well stairs are what they are)

I did the rent-to-own program when I started out with Chief Architect X7. I highly recommend the rent-to-own program. Under the rent-to-own you get SSA, Support and Software Assurance for the whole time you are doing the rental program. If a new version comes out while your doing the rental, you gain access to it at no additional cost.
