  1. You have "Suppress Label' Checked in all of your cabinets.
  2. Drew divider, opened the two new room, uncheck ceiling over this room.
  3. Room divider with rooms no flat ceiling above works
  4. Open Help, go down to What's New in Chief Architect X15- New and Improved by chapter. That's likely everything.
  5. Once a new filter is saved....
  6. Another reason is- multiple select folders- in say the user library, in X14, right click, search folders, type search term. Results are limited to those folders. X15- multi select folders, go to search window, type term, result are from entire library. I you have a saved filter to exclude all but the user library then results are from anywhere in the user library but not limited to the specified folders.
  7. I suppose that there might be occasions that I need to do that, rarely. I keep a library folder for each client. There are subfolders for specific types of items AND there are subfolders for every project I have ever worked on for them going back several years. I work for a limited number of repeat clients. When I'm working on a project for Sadie I add spaces to the front of her folder so it ends up at the top of the user library. Most often if I need to search for something on a project for Sadie I'm already at the folder. What's more what I want is very likely in a past project in that folder. No need to click around all over the place. Another part of my work flow is for each project all defaults, and likely options for same, are in a single folder within the project folder. When changing defaults Chief will open to that folder- no clicking around or searching all over. It's why I want to keep "duplicate folder" instead of just using copy and paste (which I also use) Duplicate allows me to duplicate a subfolder from a client project, drag the dupe up to the current project, rename and perhaps delete what is not needed now. It's just faster, simpler.
  8. X14- right click, search folder, start typing, selections show where the mouse is X15- select folder, move to search bar, type, move down to selections. Yes, I use both, but my point is another extra step. Not what I've asked for. Create a new symbol and add to library. Where does it go- somewhere in the user library. I want to specify and existing folder in the user library to place it. I'd also like to have it use a name from the symbol- not simply molding or base cabinet that has to be renamed. I dislike the built in web search which can thankfully be turned off. Got around that adding a shortcut in a start menu folder so I have a system wide hot key to take me to the site. My first reaction was oh good new library, finally. I spent a few days with it before deciding. It may well work for some folks, I'm not one of them. At least as it is now.
  9. x 14, right click folder, search folder, start typing, selections show where mouse already is X15, select folder, move to search window, type, move back down to selections extra step my point exactly Um, not what I'm asking for. Create symbol in plan, add to library- where does it go? somewhere in the user catalog and often with a generic name that needs to be changed, then moved to desired EXISTING folder. I want to select the folder it goes to avoiding clutter. I'd also like to be able to have it use the name I gave it (cabinets for example- not base cabinet, molding xyz not "molding" Since I dislike the built in web search immensely, I got around that adding a system hotkey to open the web sit. I spent quite a few hours playing with the new library before reaching an opinion.
  10. Well yes and no- there have been requests in the past to update the library. I'm not sure just how much of this was determined by user requests or input. I know that the two things I wanted are not here: 1-allow selection of sub folder in user library when creating a new symbol 2- allow saved filters to include/exclude MULTIPLE selection of sub folders in user library. 3 - allow LB, ALDO, and PB to be tabbed when moved to a second screen (if this is possible tell me how?) ' Things lost from 14 I'd like back A- right click folder and "search folder" B- right click Duplicate folder C- keep selected user defined saved filter between close and re-open New things I'd like to see a bit different than what we have now Save Filters off state between open and close Get back some real estate- at the very least move the 4 new icons at top of preview to the bottom where other icons live I like the grid view toggle. I'm all for that.
  11. You need to use a door symbol that has separate materials for the panel and the door. Usually one that could accept a glass panel. Here is one in Chief library.
  12. Place the symbol in plan or copy to your user library, open symbol. The Y origin controls where the symbol sits. Most of them are set to be proud. Change the Y origin so that it sits at the very front of the drawer face. NOTE- Depending on which warming drawer symbol you are working with and what size you need you may need to change the size and or change the stretch planes so you can also change the size. If you did this in plan add to library, or if already in library just use it. Might want to rename it for future use.

  16. You can hack it into parts then re-assemble into a new symbol. At one point @Alaskan_Son had done a video on using the delete surface tool. Basically I set the camera to clip surfaces within 0.1 in, hide everything except the symbol then open the symbol and set the smoothing angle high (120-180) Setting the smoothing angle that way makes it so more of a part is selected at one time when you use the delete surface tool. For instance, RAS waste basket- using delete surface tool delete the pails, save as symbol. Delete the frame, save as symbol. Place both new symbols in plan, change materials as needed, center pales on frame, adjust XYZ (transform replicate) location in relation to the frame. Sample attached (though I think RAS numbers may have changed or this one is not in current CA catalog)-( one of the completed symbols is set as a left- offset to clear open door if not using as a pull out) Note- pails with lids can be a problem. If there are more than 3 or 4 materials needed and alternative is to export the symbol and adjust materials there (Sketchup, TurboCad Deluxe, some others) working in another program is a bit trickier though. 17. You need to go to the plan file to delete it. Should be able to right click it, then select open view. IF you can't do that then the view is likely on Page 0. Anything on that page will show up in every layout page but can't be selected on any of those pages. FWIW it's good practice to put CAD details on a CAD detail page (find in your project browser) I stick to keeping them in CAD detail pages in plan. You can also place them in a CAD detail page in layout but scaling is more of a PIA in that case IMO.
  18. Not really, I did not use an invisible wall. He may still not want this but the difference is that a symbol inserted into a wall (visible) all can be moved together.
  19. a thought? convert solid to fixture (I just used a column) -inserts into wall (5"), lock size in stretch plan tab. Place a wall smaller than the object, place object, add outlet.
  20. IF you need to show these If you need to show these both open and closed there are two options. One is two cabinets each on a different layer, occupying the same space. Use layerset to switch the view. The other way is to make door symbols- one for the doors closed and another for the doors open. You can then just drag the symbol onto the cabinet. NOTE- if aligning doors is important talk with your maker. There are several different choices for hardware. The side reveals can vary from 5/16 to 0, there is always extra clearance at the top and bottom so you need to decide how you want to handle the adjacent cabinets and the sizing of the pocket door cabinet. Attached zip file with video (a rarity for me so lets' hope showing changing the doors using symbols. Pocket door w symbols.zip Below is also an image showing the stages I went through to make the symbols for use with Accuride 123 hardware which has 5/16 reveal on the sides. I fudged the open door position and extension since did not find all the specs for that. The open position doors are easiest to do by converting a correctly sized door to a fixture, altering the offsets and locking the sizes in the stretch plane tab. Then use them as a shelf -one left and one right. Make one, flip it, convert to symbol and alter origin and stretch planes. This took just over an hour. Once done it can be altered to other sizes and doors in less time.
  21. Draw first on face, extend past edge, in plan turn the corner, go to other elevation. Providing some clear idea of what you want to get to makes a big difference in the future.
  22. No idea what you want trim to be but- you can get the angle by starting with a side elevation, taking a detail from view. Copy the lin, maybe change layer and color- paste back into the elevation and start making solids. Then adjust from front elevation. Repeat for side. Attached plan has some of that started. hood.zip
