  1. This is one of Chief's greatest deficiencies, a complete PITA. What improvements would you like to see ? I agree it could use improvement as I would like CA to add the version to the file name such as 123_OAK.planX9 or 123_OAK_X9.plan Lew
  2. I don't remember which version "room divider" was added but I did notice/complain that there was inconsistency when it or invisible walls were mentioned or listed in the various dbx's or menu's I think in only one place where both listed - in each of the other places it was one or the other I don't know if it that is still the case - if so, it only leads to confusion also, if CA knows about this "workaround" being needed then they should fix the room divider Lew
  3. since I always have the last three versions of chief installed I always click on the desired plan or layout and use "open with" to choose which version of chief I want I always add the version to my file names sometimes for convenience when I am already in Chief I will use MENU - FILE - RECENT FILES Lew
  4. I believe Chief Premier can open any version of HD - if the HD version is current or earlier Chief X8 or earlier is needed to open .pl0/.pl1 vintage files I think the HD product can only work with the related Chief Premier product and the "edit flag" has to be turned on in Chief Premier - otherwise the HD product can only do read only Lew
  5. Anthony: how long ago was that ? CA has indicated they have NO legacy hardware keys and starting with X10 hardware will no longer be available Lew
  6. Ray: when I started it was with Chief 9.5 and it was a life time license with ver X1 that got changed - read your current license Lew
  7. I don't see it in my collection try these threads in the old forum http://www.chieftalk.com/search.php?searchid=10864 Lew
  8. I believe the Lapse Policy is only available for 30 Days after the Lapse Mick: I think it is good until the next release is official (maybe even the public beta ?) best to check with CA's customer service Lew
  9. Ashraf: probably best to contact CA's customer support on Monday try reviewing their website - the info may be there ? Lew
  10. Scott: confusion ? 2016 or 2018 for SSA ? Lew
  11. yes, you get X10 for free it has "plan sets" and from what I hear they are a very nice feature go to the announcements section of the forum and there will be a link to a list of new features and some videos about those features Lew
  12. Tuckersdad: I still almost all of the V10 manuals, discs, and lots of extras no hardware lock - I already donated that to someone contact me and pay for the shipping cost and you can have it all 716 545 7101 Lew
  13. Larry: sorry, CA doesn't provide vintage hardware locks re-post in the Q&A section or the seeking services section perhaps someone will have one to donate it is a violation of the license to sell them I have requested $5 for shipping when I donated my prior locks Lew
  14. I've donated 3 so far I wrap them in bubble wrap and then cardboard Lew
  15. any print shop such as OfficeMax etc or local print shop should be able to do this place the desired views as .PDF files and they should be able to do it there are even services on the internet where you email or post the .PDF's and they will mail you or the client the prints Lew
  16. William: no one is allowed to sell you a hardware lock I have donated older locks to licensed users with coordination of CA's customer service I only asked for $5 to cover mailing cost unfortunately, I have already donated my ver 10 key Lew
  17. Perry: if you still have X8 you need it or the Client Viewer to open .PL0/.PL1 etc files basically ver 9.5 and older Lew
  18. I use Carbonite to backup to the cloud but only for archival purpose I prefer not to work from the cloud I'm afraid all of your projects are gone gone gone Lew
  19. I believe really old versions had to be opened with versions closer to ver 9.5 but I don't remember exactly how far back ver X8 is the last version that can open .pl0/.pl1 etc files probably best to follow Dermot's advice and contact CA for further assistance Lew
  20. 1. do all your Drawing and Designing at 1/16" and leave everything at Default 2. when no fractions desired - change Dim.Defaults, or Annotation Set Defaults to not use the default and change fractions to 1/1 Mick: yep, I now have the method, thanks to you and Chris if anyone has a plan that has many dims that have been changed individually they can use the steps in post #4 to reset them globally to use the default again it would still be nice to have a "Dims on/off" toggle on the toolbar or as a hotkey someone may have reasons not to leave various dims set at default and not want to globally change them back either having the toggle would be the best for solution all around I will post as a suggestion I haven't tried doing it via an annoset - will do that next thanks Lew
  21. If you changed the Dims individually throughout the Project as you saw them then you have a small issue ( or maybe a large one?) Mick: yes, as I created the dims I changed them all individually to NOT "use default formatting" and had set the min fraction to 1/1 now that you provided the answer in the other thread to always set "use default formatting" while placing dims and to turn it off only when it was desired not to see the fractions I needed a way to globally change them back to "use default formatting" I tried doing that before creating this thread and it didn't work but I found that it takes two stages to do it as listed above in steps 1 - 8 I now have a method for toggling dim fractions on/off as needed but still would like a toggle to do this "easier" Lew
  22. Select all the dims at once, hit "open," go to Primary Format tab and check "Use Default Formatting" Chris: I had tried that and it didn't work it takes multiple steps to do it 1. use "all off" layerset 2. display desired dim layers 3. multi-select desired dims 4. click open and set "default" then close the dbx 5. unselect the multi-select 5. multi-select desired dims again 6.click open go to Primary Format tab 7.set desired smallest fraction - say 1/16 8. check "Use Default Formatting" and close dbx
