  1. Eric.........................try to trim just one of the lines that are 1/8" apart. When I try to trim just one they both are trimmed.
  2. I have two lines 1/8" apart. I have another line crossing both lines. I'm using the single line crossing the two 1/8" apart as the "trim" line. I click on one of the lines 1/8" apart to be trimmed and both lines are trimmed and are attached to the trimming line. Is there a setting somewhere to avoid this from happening or is this just another one or CA"s cad problems that they are looking the other way with?
  3. Well-----------I'll be starting the project tomorrow. I think I'm going with using two levels for the foundation. I'm a little hesitant on how I'm going to show the foundation plan view using the two levels. I guess I'll have to play around with a new reference display layer. Thanks to all for your time and advice. Have a great day.
  4. Joe...............That was my first thought. Then in plan view for the foundation would you take all the measurements referenced from the furthermost outside block? Would you show all the different block sizes in the foundation plan view by using different line types for each size of block or just show the differences in wall sections where they are needed or both?
  5. How would that be done with three different wall (block) thicknesses in the same wall? With a pony wall you can only use two types--------------correct? What am I not understanding when you are referring to pony walls should work?
  6. Eric....................Sorry about not getting back to you earlier. I had a meeting with a client. Here is a pdf. of a couple of sections that I'm referring to that I put together. WALL SECTIONS 1.pdf
  7. 1. I have an unusual foundation where I need three different block sizes in the same wall, at different levels on multiple walls. Is the best way of doing this to use the 1st flr. and the foundation levels together to show the foundation I'm trying to build? Is there another way to accomplish this or is how I'm thinking the best approach. I thought maybe I could just attach p-solids to the wall, for the 3D model, where I needed the third size larger block and show a cad detail in different section views. I'm thinking this may cause less problems "down the road" on the construction docs. 2. Where you have multiple sized blocks in the same wall is there a "rule of thumb" which blocks are shown in plan view? My thinking is to show them all with the different block sizes as different line types or color (if using colored prints). Does anyone have a better suggestion. As always, I appreciate each and everyone's time and advice.
  8. Mark................Since the back is hidden under a landing that's pretty much the same conclusion I came to accept. Eric, Mick & Mark.............Thank you for time and advice ( and you CA wisdom). Even though I wasn't quite able to get exactly what I was looking for I learned much more what I can doe with the cabinet tools. Have a great day.
  9. Eric.....................I'm sending the cabinet in a plan I'm trying to get the look of a curved back. I think one of my problems is that my bow depth is greater than the side depth of the cabinet. cabinet 1.zip
  10. Mick.............Yes, I found that out. What I'm now trying to understand is how Eric got the curved back on the cabinet he showed. I'm understanding the deleting of the sides and back, but I'm still not getting the look I'm after when I combine the two cabinets back to back-----------YET! Eric.............Any clues on that cabinet? This what I'm after. So far, this is what I've come up with
  11. Eric..................That's a good suggestion for a regular cabinet, but I'm trying to make an open bookcase that is 16" deep. I'll have to play with that suggestion. maybe I can get the "look" by making the rear cabinet 3/4" deep and then for the plan view use a cad drawing of the cabinet.-------------I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the suggestion.
  12. Eric...................I guess it's time to quit for the night. I looked at the "General Panel" many times and never saw the Bow Depth. Thanks for the "heads up". How would you handle a curved back. Is that a possibility? Thank you and have a great day!
  13. Is there a way to change the radius of a bow front cabinet? Can the back of the cabinet be bowed also? I can't seem to find anyway to do either. Surely the front if the bow cabinet can have the radius changed. The back might be asking for a bit much.
  14. Chopsaw.............I divided my 12' high room into two levels. My doors were 8' high. This being the case I made my lower room with a 8' ceiling and the top section 4' high with no floor. I then moved all my 2'x2' window units up into the new level. By doing this the 2'x2' units don't show on the 1st floor plan view. This would have been much easier if I had thought of having 2 floor level in the same room as I was building my model. Because I already had a 2nd floor and roof built it involved much more work to get everything back to correct elevations. There are still a couple of items to correct, but I don't think there are any real problems. The thing to take away from this is that having two floors in the same room with no floor in the room above is a good work around so level 1 windows don't show over top of level 0 windows in plan view. This also eliminated the showing of the wall coming in to the level 1 windows as shown in the attachment when I first posted.
  15. David..............Thanks for making the video and yes I've learned a new word. After watching your video I played some more with the interior walls and was able to get the look I was after. It's not perfect, but it will do. I'm learning with working with CA not to be a perfectionist. Sometimes it's good to be one and other times-------oh well! Eric.................Invisible wall----where the heck did they come from! That was an easy fix. Especially when someone smart tells me what to do. Thank you both for your time and great advice. Have a great day
  16. 1. I have been trying for hours to figure out what I'm doing wrong (or if I'm doing anything wrong) with these wall areas, which are marked "A" & "B" in the plan on the first floor. They show up as problems both on the interior and exterior areas as I try different options. This is the exterior look I'm after on both sides of the second floor room I'm also, of course wanting the correct look on the inside. It seems the more I try the worst the situation gets. I would like to have 6" walls in all the problem areas. I'm not sure if it's me or CA. I'm hoping someone can figure out a solution. If not I'll send it to tech support on Monday. 2. I also have an raised area on the 2nd floor deck that I haven't figured out what is causing the problem. Hopefully, someone might have a solution/cause for it. Thank you and good luck. 17. Chopsaw..............................The problem with that possible work around is that I have a rooms above the room with my window level problem. I don't know if I can add a floor between the now 1st and 2nd floor to use your solution or not. Since I'm pretty far along in the modeling stage adding that floor might open a whole "can of worms". I'll get back to you later on what happens.
  18. If I want to make a custom stained glass is there a certain technique to go about this. My thoughts are that I would open a new plan and make a pattern using a glass material. I would then give different pieces slightly different translucent colors to make my pattern. I would than add my leaded frame. These all would be made from p-solids. Once completed would I save it as a symbol or can I save it as a material? Is it possible to do what I'm trying to accomplish in CA and is this the correct way to go about it? Am I missing any important steps?
  19. I have a 12' ceiling room. I placed windows large window units on "level 0". I then placed smaller units on "level 1" above my first windows. After placing the smaller "level 1" windows the wall (plan view) jumped in to the side of the "level 1" unit which is approx. 3" in from the "level 0" window (A) This happened on just one side of the "level 0" window opening. Is this a bug? Also, is there a way to not show the "level 1" units and the lines shown as "B" in plan view. I tried with putting "level 1" windows on a different layer and turning it off, but the "B" lines still remain and the wall area that moved does not change back to it's original location. Plan attached. As always all advice and time is greatly appreciated. CHANDLER REMODEL 4.zip
  20. Mick................I missed the new door swing option in X10. It is a very important detail not having the hinges attach to anything though. There is still the problem of the doors not moving in with the jamb when the jamb size is changed. THAT is a real problem. Of course, how it looks in plan view doesn't help either.
  21. Eric................I suppose that will work and at this time it's an option though to get it to look correct in plan view is a pain. I sent in a report to tech support. It will be interesting as to what they say. Thanks for the time and advice.
  22. Okay, I found that before I mull the doors together I can change the jamb depth, BUT the doors do not move with the jamb. Is this a known bug or am I missing something? I'm mulling two doors together to get the center hinged patio door look or there another way to get this look?
  23. Is there a work around to make a 4 9/16" door jamb to fit in a 6" exterior wall? I want to return sheetrock into the jamb. The door is a 6' patio type that is hinged on the center (which CA still hasn't addressed). You can do this with windows so you should be able to get the same look with doors if you want. Thanks in advance for your time and advice.
  24. Eric----------------Thank you for your time, advice and revised plan file. It was getting late last night after a long day. I'm not sure if I would have figured out the total problem. It is very much appreciated. Glenn-------------Thank for that insight about the furred wall. I have no idea how that came about------------much appreciated. TO ALL----------Have a great day!
  25. 1. I can't for the life of me get room "A" to close to make a bedroom on the second floor of this as built project. "B" is a balcony area, which I defined as a 2' high area with no ceiling or roof. I want room "A" to have a ceiling height 97 1/8". Am I going about building this wrong as being the reason room "A" won't define? ------- A better way? 2. In the area of "C" on the first floor I want the wall to be cutout (X area) so the cathedral ceiling in the small room smoothly transitions into the cathedral area of the larger area. Plan in progress is attached. As always all advice/help is much appreciated. CHANDLER 1.zip
