Is there a better solution for making the "tiled wainscoting" than using material regions so you don't have to deal with the outside corner issue? Adding p-solids for filling the corners could develop into a real PITA problem.

Eric.....If that's the case is this "corner problem" considered a BUG?

How are outside corners dealt with when using material regions? Am I missing something?

They are both checked. As far as I know nothing I've done is different from when it was displaying correctly yesterday. The one thing I have realized since I opened this thread is when, let's say, I'm in the window dbx. and I go to the library to pick out a casing, my items display in the boxes when only clicking on the main folder. It seems they only don't display when I open the library just arbitrarily to look for an item. Does this help any to my dilemma?

I open CA this morning to a project and went to my library to search for a item, Opening my user library, I went to a folder, clicked on it, and none of the items show in the display window to the right. The only way the items are displayed is to click on each individual item in the selected folder. Everything worked fine yesterday when I closed CA. I went through other sections in my library and nothing is displaying when I click on a folder. What am I missing? What changed since yesterday?

Mark.........................Appreciate the video. I figured the procedures about 15 min. before you loaded your thread, but the video confirmed everything I did. I'm now trying to figure a way I can control the height of the chamfer on the stile (changing the distances in from the top and bottom of the stile) without making different stile symbols for each situation when installing the chamfered stile on a cabinet. This may be a little lengthy, but here it goes. Yesterday afternoon I finally had some time to set down and work with X11 beta. To start out fresh, I wanted to make all new dimension, text, etc. defaults instead of using my old ones. This also included anno and layer sets. Basically because, over the years, I added many items to these defaults that I now realize I don't need so I thought it was a good time to start a new slate. I started by opening up a new untitled plan so to have access to the toolbar. I spent the next four or five hours setting everything up. Getting near the finish, my wife informed me it was time for dinner. Being a smart husband for 48 yrs. I quickly got up from my desk (without saving the "untitled plan") ,went and enjoyed a great cooked meal and then after that sat down to ponder the evening news. During the news (and old timers nap time) the power flipped off for maybe 30 seconds. With this happening, of course, the computer went off. Now comes my dilemma. On opening X11 back up I'm realizing everything (dimension, text etc., etc. defaults--annosets, layersets and so on) I had set up wasn't saved. Am I "screwed" or can I find my work "somewhere"? One thing to understand. I'm an -- well some would say-- "old fart". I do not understand the workings of a computer at all (or very little). I understand most of the program (or thought I did) since I've been using it since v10. It's like having a car today. You turn the key and it starts--Great!. If it doesn't start you call your mechanic. I'm calling on my "CA Mechanic" ----CHIEFTALK! Can anyone help me or was yesterday a "day of practice"? I always appreciate all advice given back to me-----whether it's good or bad for me. So with that thought I say thank you.

Eric...............Thanks. That looks like what I was looking for. I did different searches, but as usual I didn't find either of those threads. I'll play around with those thread suggestions and see what works best. I'm pretty "thick" at times. There are some things I'm not quite understanding with some of the suggestions, but I'll get it worked out. Thanks again for the quick response and have a great day.

What's the correct way to change the page lettering on some pages in layout? Having multiple templates? I watched a couple of videos, but I'm not doing something correct. From the video it looked like I could go into the edit page info and put (example--S-#) in the Label box and that would change the page letter from "A" to "S" and the # would then start numbering the "S" pages in order, but nothing changed on that layout page. I know I'm missing something, but what? I've always up till now just manually put in the page numbers and letters, but I know there is an auto way to do this--or I think there is.

I'm looking for a gas fireplace wall exhaust vent symbol. I thought someone had put one on in a thread sometime ago, but I can't locate it. I've looked in the library and on 3D Warehouse, but didn't find one. I know if it is not describe correctly the item doesn't show a lot of the time. I don't know if this is my case or not, but if anyone could help out in any way it would be much appreciated. Thank you

Ah! It's another one of those "little things" that everyone would like to see fixed, but CA just turns a blind eye/ear andlooks the other way.

To be honest I have rarely ever used soffit for anything and I've been using CA since VER 10. I'm probably missing a lot (a little ?) by not using it, but for whatever reason I've never thought about the "tool".

Perry.................I'm not sure what you mean. Could you clarify a little more?

Mike............Yes, I was very lucky to find it. I had a cousin in the lumber business that bought the contents out of a huge warehouse that was stuffed full of about anything you could imagine. There was about 1000 bf. of old growth clear pine stacked in it. We finally found out it was cut around 1900 by the great grandfather of the present owner. Lucky for my cousin, no one remembered was there. He ended up getting it for pennies on the dollar. The first thing he did was call me. I will never (or anyone else) ever see Eastern White Pine like that. Some of the boards were over 30" wide with growth rings as tight as 1/32" apart. You must remember, these boards aren't salvaged pieces. They were never used before. I "almost" felt guilty cutting them. They will be used for very special projects. Hopefully I'll live long enough for all the "right" projects.

I had 6 weeks into it. I wanted to have it finished for Christmas, but I was three week late.---------- Oh well, my wife still accepted it. All the moldings were made with old molding planes. Almost all parts were attached by wooden pegs. I used 200yr. old glass in the door. The H hinges were hand forged. All the wood was hand planed. The 20" shelving was all made from a single width board----no glue ups. The painting took over a week to get the correct patina and decorated look. The kids are already trying to decide who will get first dibs. This is my 5th or sixth piece I've made for my wife/kids, so there will be plenty to go around.

It seems every time I get into a project anymore I'm "taxing" CA with an unusual problem, but I love the challenge and the program. Lately I've been doing a lot of work in my cabinet shop building period furniture for my family and have been away from the computer and CA. I'm getting to a point in my life where one has to start thinking about leaving "heirlooms" for the kids. Here's my latest cabinet project. It's styled after an early 1800's painted Pennsylvania corner cupboard. I made it from a stash of quarter sawn pine I have that was cut from virgin timber 150 yrs. ago and never used. By counting the growth rings in some of the boards, the trees were growing before Columbus came to North America. It was built in the same way that it would have been built in the early 1800's. The hardware was all handmade. All this probably doesn't mean much to you, but when you love your work, whether it's designing a house or building a piece of furniture, you have to "show off" sometimes. Kevin.........................Your way could possibility work in some cases. In my instance my eave and gable overhangs were different lengths and when adjusting the offsets they move both eave and gable using the same offset distance. I built a completely separate roof a specified distance from my model, adjusted it's size and baseline height to make a bed mold shadow board the size I needed to fit the frieze area on my model. I then copied it directly across to my model. Yes, it was a PITA getting it to fit correctly, but I think it's the only way I could do it under my circumstances. Of course I would be tickled pink if someone comes up with a quicker solution, but I have my doubts.

Scott.............When I attempted to use "frieze" the bed molding would be in the vertical/perpendicular position at the eaves. It also wasn't showing on some eaves. As far as I can figure this situation out, the way it was discussed by Eric, is the only way to do this work around.---------VERY TIME CONSUMING! I almost had it figured out on my own, but I had my eaves set for a plumb cut instead of a square cut. Thanks to Eric I was corrected.
