  1. It says you've been working on that for 6 straight months. Started more than one project around that time. This particular one had multiple iterations of the plan over that time period, but not every day. The job was a per square foot price and I'd like to know just how much additional time was spent actually making changes. This may be the only plan that accumulated time in this way. I had been using the beta for X8 before it was released, but I don't know that time frame and didn't check the time tracker until after a couple of major changes. I never tried to edit the total because I couldn't find a way to change the format. Just wondered if anyone had encountered this and found a way to fix it or determine the hours .
  2. I have a project that was started in January that I wanted to get drawing time for. The time tracker has always presented the accumulated time in hrs., mins. and secs., but for some reason I'm getting this:
  3. The Electrician knows the requirements for fire walls and deals with that. Most of my work is commercial and the Electrical plans have to be reviewed by the Fire Marshal.
  4. http://www.usgdesignstudio.com/ Use this to design a wall. This will give you UL and GA fire wall standards. Here, it is required to have Type "X" drywall attached to the roof sheathing 24" out from the demising wall each side.
  5. Anytime I send a dwg to my engineer, he usually has to fix the line-weights to what he wants. Also colors. Very easy in Acad layer properties. I have a dark background for Acad workspace and white for CA.
  6. Made this a few years ago for a project. Added it to my library and it can be adjusted in length and width.
  7. There is a dentist chair in the library.
  8. I started using Sketchfab as well, thanks DJP for the heads up. Not perfect, but a quick way to illustrate the 3D model for clients. I tried to use the CA 3D viewer once and didn't get it right the time I did try. I also have Snagit which is useful at times, to create short videos based on screen capture.
  9. be aware that there are PDF's that are raster images and Vector images. I don't think you can do much with the raster images other than place them in a drawing. Autodesk can import Vector images and work with them.
  10. Yep, this is not something automatic in Chief, lots of custom stuff --p-solids. Too much to explain here. Absolutely, correct Perry. And not necessary. The building manufacturer submits engineered drawings for permitting. I only took the time because I made a video walkthrough and wanted the visual of the rooms. Way too much time and in the end not cost efficient.
  11. Main frame column and purlins made of Polyline solids. Made girts same way. You will need shop drawings of red iron from steel building manufacturer if you need exact sizing.
  12. I remember that video. Well done. My project came up before that. Mine had step-backs on all sides and the molding polyline worked good enough
  13. I've tried a couple of options in the past and ended up using Exterior room polylines converted to molding. Worked well with door and window openings. Used a square molding (handrail) and multiple copied horizontal grooves vertically. Vertical cad lines converted also. I had trouble making the long narrow grooves with the material region. I also did the multiple copy polyline solids, but too much work for the openings (trim).
  14. In X8-Sorry, I just reread the post and you needed X4 version.
  15. Highlite the roof plane that you want to delete the gutter an under options, uncheck the gutter.
  16. I think JJohnson published a chart a long time ago.
  17. Greg, I'm using X8. I did download the file and I'll try again. fireplace vent.plan 2.79MB
  18. Another symbol that the Original program had stock and lost when CA took over. By the way, Tried to open the plan for the one Greg posted and it did not open in X8. I didn't try X7. I haven't had a need for one of theses for a number of years, but Greg's is the one I would want.
  19. This has been around for a long time. Stair-construction-visual-2006-Code.pdf
  20. This was a problem prior to an update a while back. Is the OP using the current updated version?
  21. Just did a call center and used the stock "cubicles" from the library. I was hoping that they were somewhat "manufacturers sizing". Same as toilet partitions, there were still some modifications needed. Most installers work with premade or industry standard sizes when possible for cost efficiency. Custom panel sizes may be prohibitive in cost, I'm not sure. I've installed partitions on a couple of commercial baths that were sent to jobs without an installer. I just followed their layout. There may be a standard similar to 3" increments for cabinets. We did our restrooms at the recreation center a couple of years ago, but I did not talk with the partition contractor nor did I look up a website for details.
