  1. This has got to be the biggest point of contention for me is CAD details. I under the old AutoCAD used to create a detail and save it under either i.e. Fnd, Roof, Arch FlrFRam Library and import them via an XRef with an exact point of where I want it to be positioned. I have no idea what I am doing now and starting to get into bad habits with my details in Chief. What is the best way to create and save your details. I do all my details in 1-1/2" scale. Does everyone just save them each detail in the library and then place them into a Layout or do you create a plan for details and continue adding to it and then send the ones you want to a Layout. I just can't seem to find much info on here or in any Chief video that helps in this way. In addition, I have created a CAD detail border that I work within so when I insert it into my layout it fits within the 12 detail spaces that I have created on a detail sheet. The problem is when I insert it, it is oversized by a fraction all the way around the detail and not to the border. Suggestions please!!!! EAVE DETAIL.pdf
  2. Man, I'm getting thirsty. Must be 12 O'clock somewhere
  3. Justin, for a person who does not do a lot of RT, these are spectacular. If you don't mind me asking what are your settings that you use? I am having such a difficulty in getting such results and now that I am using X9 Beta things look like they have changed as well. Would love to know if your willing to suggest. Thanks

Just a few projects that I have worked on thorugh the course of working with CA
  5. Does anyone have any idea how to make the Terrain perimeter lengths into decimal form and not feet and inches?
  6. Fortunately this is an existing home and I did not have to deal with the framing aspect of the home but I did have to create a room below it on the deck and that created a bit of difficulty.
  7. One of the best posts that I have seen come across this board and could not have come at a better time. Thanks Chopsaw, Greg and JJ. I will post shortly on what I was trying to complete, just as I saw this post. And A big Thanks to Chief Tutor although his way does not work for a symbol in wall mode. Here is the before and After... Thanks again.
  8. I am working on a very complex remodel with several different levels on it and I am having trouble setting floor levels. In one situation, I may have changed and exterior wall height and now my interior baseboards are showing on my exterior elevations. What you are looking at is an upper level floor with a garage below and the baseboards/flooring are showing in the upper floor on the exterior elevations. For the life of me I cannot firgure it out and I know that there is a CA expert here that can help. Thanks,
  9. Nope Graeme that's on. As I explained I currently have one section line on but the other one is not showing as I clicked on the section line and turned off show on all floors now it is not showing and I can't get it back.
  10. From the album: My projects

The start of a new project that I am working on. This is the existing conditions that took forever because it was a really complex with many different levels
  11. I have two cross section lines A & B and I have turned off the Cross Section A in the foundation (Plan Display) and now it no longer shows on the floor plan. How do I turn it back on so it shows on the floor plan but not on the foundation plan? If is is no longer showing how do I choose it to show?
  12. Im with you Dennis. I do a lot of pavers for clients and I just can't get the right ones. I would be nice if we had some CalSTone Pavers in our library.
  13. Johnny, Yeah I don't want to lower my roof plane as it would not plane into the existing roof. This is not an individual occurrence it is on all the roofs I have drawn for this project. There has to be another explanation.
  14. Once again this might be a simple fix but I can't seem to figure it out. I have my framing and i have made sure Automatic Bridsmouth is checked but when I do a backclipped cross section it is not showing my birdsmouth cut it shows it simply sitting on the outside edge of the wall like a truss would be. Any ideas? Picture attached
  15. Yes, dont' do it. The Architectural business is no longer a glorified profession it is all about bureaucratic BS now. I have become Jaded and Angry
  16. I know that there is a simple way but I am having trouble figuring this out. I am drawing a polyline solid on a gable wall and I want it to be parallel with the angle of the roof. How do I accomplish this, I can't find any info. Help is greatly appreciated.
