Well this has probably been posted before but I can't seen to find any information on it. I have several large general notes that I add to my plans but I can't seem to figure out a way that I can have them with several columns instead of just top to bottom. I would like to have someway to create a numbered notes that I could place on my sheet so it could be with several columns to fit in a space and numbered properly. Right not I am having to have several rich text and place them side by side. Does anybody have any idea of how to do this or is this something that was missed by Chief.

Well that just sucks... Looks like I am going to have to do a section view and then block out all the framing that I don't want to show.

I am trying to do some interior elevations and I have a room with a vaulted ceiling. When I do a wall elevation it is only giving me the lower half of the room and not including any of the vaulted portion. Am I doing something wrong or does Chief not acknowledge the upper portion for wall elevations?

Did you do this with Chief or Blender Render?

@mrscott I am just looking at your workstation specs... Are you in the goverment? That is some system with a dual Xeon cpu. If I may ask what did you pay for that and do you actually use all that power in Chief. I mean I can run Chief pretty well but I can only imagine.

Thank you all for your help in answering my questions. I have finally made the change that AI was looking for and with some help from http://davidmichaeldesigns.com/ and his never ending list of videos on YouTube. This one for example was what I was trying to do in the beginning and knew I had seen it somewhere. Here is his video

I've looked at the Stair DBX 100 times and I don't know how I missed that. Thanks again.

Thanks Chopsaw, looks like I got the newels taken care of it is just a matter of making that wall go all the way to the ceiling and covering up the post and eliminating the rail from the post on back. Also the main topic is that the tailing is not showing up on my plan view. I have the stairs, rails and ramps layer on but somehow the railing on the plan does not show up.

Thanks Gary, That solves one problem.

I am sure this is an easy question but I am having a hard time figuring it out. As you can see from the screen image, I have a stair that continues up to a landing and at the landing it is showing my newels. I do not want the newels post showing at the top of the landing only at the bottom and the top of the stairs. Is there a way to do this? Also, I want the wall below the stairs to align with the wall above but I want it to be continuously solid to the floor above all the way to the post. I have tried breaking the wall in a section view but that does not seem to work. One other thing is that the railing is not showing up on the plan view and yes the railing is on in the plan view. What am I missing?

The edge smoothing helps the look Perry but doesn't make it any slower since I think with all the crap I got in this files it is already slow to begin with. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks Suzy. I am not sure I want to copy and paste my plan into a new plan as that would create so many problems. I would agree that I think since I use so many Kohler and Viking products that must be the reason for the major slow down and the high file size. :-(

Ryan, when you say it has changed significantly what are you referring to. I have found that in X9 my interior and exterior overview are not as clean lined as they were in X8. They appear to be much more stigmatized. I miss having my final view nd final view with shadows option, they made it so nice that I did not have to waste time in getting a decent Raytrace.

I am finding that my plan files are becoming very large in size. The current project I am working on is 50mb in size. Is this common or are other users having smaller ones. Would love to know what size plan files you have and if I am just getting huge files because of all the notes that I have to put on my plans these days.

This has got to be the biggest point of contention for me is CAD details. I under the old AutoCAD used to create a detail and save it under either i.e. Fnd, Roof, Arch FlrFRam Library and import them via an XRef with an exact point of where I want it to be positioned. I have no idea what I am doing now and starting to get into bad habits with my details in Chief. What is the best way to create and save your details. I do all my details in 1-1/2" scale. Does everyone just save them each detail in the library and then place them into a Layout or do you create a plan for details and continue adding to it and then send the ones you want to a Layout. I just can't seem to find much info on here or in any Chief video that helps in this way. In addition, I have created a CAD detail border that I work within so when I insert it into my layout it fits within the 12 detail spaces that I have created on a detail sheet. The problem is when I insert it, it is oversized by a fraction all the way around the detail and not to the border. Suggestions please!!!! EAVE DETAIL.pdf

Justin, for a person who does not do a lot of RT, these are spectacular. If you don't mind me asking what are your settings that you use? I am having such a difficulty in getting such results and now that I am using X9 Beta things look like they have changed as well. Would love to know if your willing to suggest. Thanks

Does anyone have any idea how to make the Terrain perimeter lengths into decimal form and not feet and inches?
