Thank you TeaTime. No luck and I think it's something the company needs to fix on their end, but I was able to find a work around and get the object to work well enough for the time being.

Hi, I downloaded a .skp file from a brand that I've downloaded from before (successfully), but this particular object came with a huge bounding box. I opened up the dialog box and found the place to adjust the size of the bounding box, but haven't been successful in fixing the issue. Also, I'm not able to get a thumbnail to generate from this object in my library. Suggestions? Thanks! Susan

Daniella, You can try moving the mirror in a 3d view, an elevation view, or a plan view. Sometimes one view is easier than the other. Click on the mirror and if it does not highlight, let go of the mouse and press "tab" once and it should highlight the mirror. Be sure to try all 3 options if you're having trouble and try zooming in - that can help too. I'm assuming this is just a plain mirror that you selected out of the library and placed on the wall and not something embedded in the tile? Also, you might want to fill in your "signature" so we know what version of Chief you are working in and whether you are on a Mac or a PC. Click on your name to get a drop down menu to take you to settings and then click on signature. Susan

Welcome! Looks like you are doing a great job for being so new to the program. As Mark mentioned, while in plan view, click on tub filler or mirror or shelf to highlight it, then hold the Command button down while moving the mouse to more easily move the highlighted object. Our business is set up on Google and we use Google Meet all the time to work remotely since my team is in Boston and I moved to CO. We send the client a link to the meeting and if it is a new client, I always do a test run with them before the meeting to make sure they have what they need on their end to log into the meeting. Generally very easy for a client and once they've logged into the meeting, I simply share my screen so everyone can see what I'm doing in Chief. I've also used Zoom to work remotely and shared my screen. Hope this helps!

@DesignGallery There are dozens of ways to manage your files and save files, but this is the system we use. It requires some "housekeeping" but it works well for us and we're able to find things easily. Regarding Material files / images: There are 2 of us on our team who open and work on plan / layout files on a regular basis and this is what we do: 1. If we import a jpg or a pdf onto a layout or plan, we double click on it to open up the dialog box and select "Save to plan". 2. We each have a file in our User Library of custom made materials that we share with each other if we've made additions. Right mouse click on the folder in your User Library and select "export library" to create a download to share. 3. We make sure that each of us has the same Chief library catalogs downloaded. 4. Yes, sometimes things slip through the cracks and we have to recreate a material, but not often. Regarding file management: Please see my previous post. This was written when we were using X14 but we have kept the same method in practice because it works well for us. The key is to the "housekeeping" of moving old layout files and plan files out of the folder that is downloaded to the desktop. This makes things easy to find and keeps old files hidden, but easily accessible. I hope this helps and please don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions. Susan

If you are ok with using something more "stock" than custom, Chief does offer hoop mullion doors in their Core Catalog that are ready to use. See attached screenshot to find the doors. Chief Architect Core Catalogs / Architectural / Cabinet Doors, Drawers, Panels / Doors / Hoop Mullion.

I played around with this feature several years back. I was able to print out 3d models on my Lulzbot TAZ 3d printer fairly easily, but I found colored renderings to be more helpful to clients than the printed 3d model. How were you planning to use the 3d models? Maybe I'll give this another try!

You could post in the Suggestions Forum a request to have the Rev a Shelf items in the Chief catalog be broken apart to allow for adjusting of individual materials.

Essentially you need to create an electrical symbol for the 6 gang switch and change the 2D CAD block for it so it shows the way you want it to in your electrical schedule. Here is one way to create a 6 gang symbol that shows as 6 switches in elevation and 3d views, but shows up as a single switch labeled 6 gang in the Electrical Schedule. Open a plan and draw an interior wall. Place a 3 gang switch from the library. Place another 3 gang right next to the first one and have them overlap quite a bit as shown in attachment. Select the two 3 gang switches and turn them into a Symbol. The dialog box that opens will allow you to name this new symbol 6 gang. Do not close the dialog box yet. While still in this dialog box: Make sure Show Advanced Options is also checked. Dialog box opens. Select Options / Wall Mounted / Switch Same dialog box: Select General / set the height at 44" off the floor and 1/2" off the wall. Same dialog box: Select 2D Block and select Single Pole. This will allow your big 6 gang switch to show up in plan as a single pole. Now you have a 6 gang symbol that is on the Electrical Layer, shows up in your Electrical Schedule, and looks like a single pole switch, but is labeled 6 gang. I'm sure there are other ways of accomplishing this and if anyone wants to chime in, please do, but this method works for me. Susan

I wasn't able to open your OIP.jfif, but I'm guessing from your title that you are looking for a black, grid style shower door like the attached image? If so, it is easily created: Select "glass panel door" from the door dialog box. Remove the casings. Add "Lites". Change the "Panel frame widths" to 1". Add a door handle and shower door hinges. Paint the frame black.

I agree, the Standard View doesn't have enough definition and Vector View is better for construction documents, but if you really did need to see your jpgs in elevation view, using the Standard View and selecting "Hand Drawn Lines" as an option, but adjusting them down so the lines are more straight than hand drawn would get you some definition.

Hi Doug, Glad that helped and I'm just curious, what view are you are using for your elevation view? I'm so used to using "Vector View" for my elevations that I forgot that it's also possible to select "Standard View" or "Watercolor View" when in Elevation and the photos (or other textures) will show up in either of those views. Doug, I think I understand what you are after and this is how I would approach it: Your custom frame needs a backing in the middle of it, like a real picture frame would have. Draw it inside your custom frame using a 3d solid. Select the frame and the 3d solid and block them. Save the block as a symbol to your user library in a folder you create, called "Picture Frames". Then import your jpgs into your user library as a material and save them into another folder you create called "Photos". Place one of your custom frames on your wall. Open your "Photos" folder and spray paint one of your jpgs into the middle of the frame. Your jpgs will only show up in a 3d view, not in an elevation view. 3d views see texture (your jpg) and 2d views see pattern. Susan
