Looks like maybe you have found an inconsistent behaviour then. If it does the same in X14 then if would be good to get it sent in.
-
Not sure about X14 yet but I think that works the way it was intended. Normally I think chief anticipates the Save As copy to not be the backup or Archive and it would always be the active file that you intend to progress with. It does present a bit of a naming problem if you have a master file name that you want to stick with rather than having a progressive naming system though. I guess you are not able to post the file if you are remodeling DJT's plane for him.

I think I would be biased towards the surveyor being more likely to be correct however they occasionally make mistakes as well. If you really want to know if it works go and measure it yourself and then you will know if it meets your standards and can be relied on. Then you can let us know how it works. It looks like they are claiming to have a higher degree of accuracy than a Matterport camera system.

Not sure that you will get a live section to look that good with either method.

So no ventilation even though it looks to be an insulated building ? Otherwise you can get vertical blocking by using a rafter and drag your exterior wall up to the sheathing or with a bit of futzing about you can get an attic wall to fill that space and keep your proper top plate height. Just depends if you are rendering or doing construction documents.

Select the terrain and then the "Make Terrain Hole(s) Around Building(s)" and then you can manually edit it.

Have a look here: Specifically the Nahimic Audio Software issue.

Looks like something went wrong. The X13 Residential Template ships with a few more than that.

I generally have quite a bit of cleanup to do with chief's auto framing if I am going to show it in a set of plans. As for your specific situation it is not likely that your template is responsible for the issues you are encountering but it is possible. If you run into something that no one has a solution for then you can quickly model the situation in a stock template and check. A lot of these things are known issues that have not been resolved for many versions though, and we keep hoping that they will isolate and fix the problems but some must be much harder than others.

Yes it is odd. Some of the others were discussing it thinking it was a new problem in X14.

Hi Bob, It seems that chief wants to auto frame a ridge rather than a rafter under that wall and not really sure why.
-
Not likely to happen with auto roof. Something has been changed manually. Post the plan if you are not sure what ?
-
That is the solution ! Was that in the library somewhere or did you make it ?

See Eric's illustration. You can draw anything you want with cad but it will be extruded and the same from one side all the way to the other.

Yes that should work, however in the photo the taper is only in the center and the edges have lips. If you want to model this accurately it will be more work.

As for the sill profile I believe that you will need to draw the profile to scale for this application and not just grab one from the library. Unfortunately you won't be able to reproduce that sill contouring with an extruded profile and would need to use a manually placed solid for that if you want to be truly accurate.

It won't be quick if you are determined to get it right but is likely a worthwhile process to go through once you are proficient with the rest of the software and it will show you if you are correctly modeling everything in a way that chief expects it to be. It also completely depends on the project, such as I would not recommend doing your first list on a remodel that has the as-built in the same file.

Base it on your hourly rate and take enough time to be sure it is right. The person who does the take off unless they have a very well written disclaimer.
-
Yup, yet another person that does not enjoy doing take off's. No one wants to do it for free that is for sure.
-
Not really sure I would go to the trouble of framing the project and verifying the accuracy of the material list just for a lazy supplier unless someone is paying for that.
-
If it is not in the model it will not be on the list.

I think chief is imposing a style choice upon you. Can you make something work with Component Options of a Slider ?

How to eliminate the eyebrow eve along the face of a shed dormer?

Not really sure I have seen auto roof do that before but it certainly can be manually edited. Roof planes are special and you can place a break in that section and just tear out what you don't need. Or post the file and one of the experts may be able to advise how it is done with automatic settings.
