  1. If you would like me to take a look I will because if you have understood and done this correctly it will move you wall center back from the outside edge of the porch. Is your wall a Railing wall set to be "Post to Beam"?
  2. You could post your plan so I could take a look but I think you need to adjust your railing "Wall Type" thickness to the size of your Columns or a little larger if you need to recess them.
  3. Johnny, What does the Z value display as on your Status Bar when you zoom in on an elevation view and place your cross hairs on the line vs. the top of the psolid?
  4. Ray, There may be some fancier way to do this but here is a quick sample of a polyline solid quoin that with the proper materials could look better than an auto quoin. Just stack 4 psolids and block then transform and replicate up. If you are looking for something more complicated, here is a tutorial I found a while ago that you may find interesting: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00797/creating-a-soldier-course.html Polyline Solid Quion Corners test.plan
  5. Larry, When time allows please mention about the Square Half Post at Wall not functioning as these problems are quite likely related to each other. Many Thanks, Chopsaw
  6. Well that was awesome Glenn, I suppose you were asleep 8 hours ago when we all needed you.
  7. Thanks Michael, That was all in the video but I missed it the first time to. Always fun to discover a new tool in the toolbox.
  8. You might be looking for this tool.
  9. No Problem Archibry, It is really just a big set of stairs that would need some additional engineering to hold a big crowd of people but could be an option for you. You can check the settings and tweak the rise and run as necessary. Adjust materials etc. I did not bother with all the chairs because it looked to me like you already had that figured out at the time. I just threw in a few and set their elevations. All one unit just double click and you will see. Not so sure there is an ungroup for distribution path but it can be edited or deleted or moved and you can turn off the cad path but that might be about all. Michael or Glenn can confirm for you. Good Luck and keep us posted, Chopsaw
  10. Yes this is a railing connection issue. Has anyone ever been able to make the "Square Half Post" option for Rail Style work properly and display in 3D. If so please share. If not I would suggest that in this situation the railing is attaching to the main layer and therefore causing display issues below the railing and also the reason the Square Half Post will not display correctly because it is always half way inside the adjoining wall. If no resolution is found for existing scenario please report to tech.
  11. Rich, Amazing work but I think you might have just voided your computer warranty. That looks like a real picture to me, are you sure that is not your reflection in the vase?
  12. Here is my test plan that you can check out for settings if you like. And practice distributing chairs with. Theater Seating.plan
  13. Not sure if this is exactly the same or could be related somehow but I had a similar situation last week with a test plan of mine. I finally figured out that I had imported a symbol from a friend that had a custom font embedded into the cad block. This was not something I was expecting and I kind of threw me off when it happened. And I did try a few times to change the font.
  14. Looks like you have the chairs all figured out but need something to support them. Does this look anything like what you are after. If so I can post my test plan for you. What version are you working with?
  15. If you are referring to what Sherry said CAD blocks are Different than Cad Details but by all means try both because this is a very strange situation you are experiencing. If you care to post Michael is great at figuring stuff like this out for people.
  16. There was a detailed discussion on this not too long ago, check this out:https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/9864-sloped-floor/?hl=%2Bsloped+%2Bfloor Then let us know if you have any trouble or more questions. What have you tried so far? It might be possible with a floor for each level maybe? Would have to give it a try. Depends a bit on the method of construction and drawings required.
  17. I would check your X8 data> Archives just in case because I just checked mine expecting not to see any Untitled files but there was one (Untitled 2_auto_save_bak.plan) so there might still be a chance to find it. Not sure what the factors are but there were 44 min. logged on my file. Also searched Untitled in File Explorer and found some more.
  18. Aunttieem, This seems to be an X7 Plan File? What label did you use for the Family Room? Lots of work to do here before you can say anything is close to being finished. Do you have any sketches of what you intended to do with the roof? This will be quite a challenge just for your engineer depending on what you decide to do with the roof. Do you have height restrictions to consider at your preset 12/12 pitches? Love the challenge but much more info required if you are expecting free help.
  19. You should be able to try it out with the Trial version you just can't print, save, or export. So import should still work. DWG and DXF files should be ok to trace over with snaps. If you repost in the General Q & A you might get an answer from an experienced user who uses both programs over the weekend. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/trial.html
  20. Very nice Rich. Love your work. Keep it up.
  21. Get the best you can afford as I did 2 years ago and have not run into any issues running 3 24" 1080x1920 screens with my R9 270. About the only thing that slows me down is a nasty big PDF. Also please remember that Ray tracing uses the CPU so it is also important to get a good one of those as it runs at 100% capacity. Wishing I had one like Perry's right now.
  22. This video illustrates how to miter a extruded profile drawn in an elevation view by converting from a standard polyline to a polyline solid to a solid with the intension of then converting to a library symbol. For the purpose of realistically illustrating a Metal Floor Pan Decking material in 3D as well as 2D. Same process for Metal Roof Pan Decking material. Hoping to eventually include some finished shots when completed. Video has some unexplained audio issues but I was able to include Closed Captioning if necessary.
  23. They will be in your digital locker if that is set up but it should have been available with the download I think. Sometimes it is already inputed and you just need to enter the pre assigned number. But if you are stuck Customer Service can help in the morning.
  24. No "Photon Mapping" is quite different from "Tone Mapping" but by all means try it out but you will notice that it disables your control of "Intensity", "Softness", and "Color Correction" just below the same way the "Auto Contrast" feature works. All of these adjustment can be done anytime during or after ray tracing but deselecting "Use Photon Mapping" must be preset. Keep searching the Forum about this as I think that is where I learned about it because there is a reason it is under the Advanced tab. Here is the map to "Use Photon Mapping" and don't hesitate to use the Help files as they are sometimes quite enlightening. Don't forget about your video training resources : https://video.chiefarchitect.com/?search=ray+trace This is a good one and there are new ones that I have not seen yet : https://video.chiefarchitect.com/?search=1909
  25. Johnny, Those look like point to point dimensions. If so adjust your Marker Radius. Default Settings> Text, Callouts and Markers> Marker> Saved Marker Defaults> Edit> Marker> Size> And Reduce Accordingly. I hope. Or Active Defaults> Markers> Edit> Marker> Size> Reduce. That only really works for next time, if you already have a bunch select 1 and use the Match Properties tool to select them all and change the Marker Radius to 0.
