The preview is of the currently selected object. Select one of the light fixtures and the preview should change to that object.

Assuming you are trying to eliminate nodes in the middle of a line segment (colinear) then you just select the tool on the edit menu to Simplify Polyline. OTOH, for corners you can simply drag them to an adjacent corner which will delete a line segment.

I had a problem with direct access/assignment of macro values in calculations. By first assigning the macro result to a variable and then using the variable in the calculations it worked perfectly. I'm going to experiment with that technique to see if it solves my problem.

I really think this is a problem with macros in custom fields.

I have a similar problem with a schedule with a macro that generates an error until one of the row items has been opened and closed. This is a rather complex macro accessing some custom field values. I haven't found a way to solve it. I've asked Chief to provide a tool that would update on demand but haven't received a fix. In your case I would check to make sure some other process isn't messing with the global value(s).

Take a look at the documentation for "Referenced Plan Views"

tray ceilings directly under a second floor
Joe_Carrick replied to winterdd's topic in General Q & A
If the structure of the floor above includes an air gap and ceiling joists then you can cut into the ceiling. Cutting into the actual floor joists would not be practical without a structural analysis. -
Automate Elevation Plan Display Callout Label
Joe_Carrick replied to ChiefUserKatie's topic in General Q & A
Personally, I number each room's elevations beginning with 1,2,3,4 and name them in the Project Browser. -
Does anyone know how to delete a Revision ? We can Add but once a Revison has been added to a Layout I can't find a way of deleting it. It's evidently locked into the Revision Table Never mind, I found it in the "Edit Page Information" DBX

Make sure Chief is set to use the RTX 4080. I don't think that's automatic. Another possibility is the Anti-Virus not being set to ignore Chief and/or the plan and layout files.

How is the label offset supposed to work for doors?
Joe_Carrick replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
Gene, I agree that is the way it works - but I it should work according to the swing direction (inside/outside). My preference would be to the actual swing side but +/- could suffice. -
Google "3D WAREHOUSE"

I get this: when I open my Layout. How can I find the offending layout boxes so I can delete them?

Some possibilities: Not all Windows set to be included in Schedule Not all Rooms selected for inclusion SkyLites not checked to be included in Schedule etc.

It could be that the model is at an extreme elevation. It's best to have the 1st floor at 0.00 elevation

Why doesn't Chief autoframe 2x posts between un-mulled windows?
Joe_Carrick replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
You would need to not mull the windows in order to get framing between them. Mulled windows implies a single manufactured unit, not 3 units. -
Way to complicated with lots of custom macros. No, but elevation markers report relative to sea level./ terrain.

Yes, so do I need to delete the foundation first?
-
The project is definitely on a hillside. 1st Floor with Foundation 2nd Floor extends over 1st floor and grade 10' above. with foundation 3rd Floor directly above 1st floor area. all floors are at relative elevations to sea level. I've tried just about everthing to add a interior stairway down from the 1st Floor into a room 10' below. The results just don't cooperate and I get the 2nd & 3rd Floors floatint 20 to 40 ft above where they should be. I suspect it's due to a mixup between terrain, floor, & absolute elevations. Chief doesn't provide for inserting a new floor below Floor 0.

I have an 3 story house I'm working on. I need to create a partial basement without effecting the elevations of the existing floors and all the structure above. This seems to be almost impossible to accomplish. It would be great if I could just create a room recessed into the foundation. Does anyone have a good way of ensuring the floor elevations above don't change?
