40 years ago you could get a permit for a small house in San Diego with just: Site Plan Floor Plan(s) Foundation Plan Roof Plan 4 Elevations 1 Section You didn't need anything else except maybe a couple of notes and a typical foundation detail. Today it's a totally different ball game.

I just noticed that the Header Labels in the Wall Details don't indicate the number (count) when using 2x's for headers. IOW, if the wall is 2x6 and I specify (3) 2x's to make up the header ----- The Label only indicates 2x10x77 Header instead of (3) 2x10x77 Header. Shouldn't the count be a part of the Label?

Agreed. Either a secondary Server or a "Time-Out" over-ride.

Try this: Disconnect from the Internet. Launch Chief Architect This should bypass the log-in checking.

I logged into my office computer remotely and deactivated the license there. Then I was able to activate at home. But maybe it's just that the CA Web Site came back on line...... But I think it's just really BUSY

I'm also having a problem. I don't seem to be able to connect to the Chief Server to deactivate my license on another computer.

Alan, That is an option that Chief doesn't provide. If you really have to have that then you will have to make your own. You could add that & add to your user Library. But then after you place it you have to unblock to edit the text.

Use a Text Callout with 1 Large Arrow. It won't have the arrow at the tail, but otherwise it's works. You can block it and put it in your Library, but it's easier to just set it up in the defaults.

Previously, we asked for an Elevation Dimensioning Tool - dimension to the rough_floor and top_of_plates, etc. Chief really needs to set up something like this with a full set of defaults for what should be dimensioned.

Default settings are needed.

Jon, I think they just retain the previous settings for spacing, etc.

Another option - if you need to have parapet walls: Just make another floor (no ceiling, no roof, room height(s) to match the parapet height)

Charlie, It would depend on the Wall Type Definition. "Surface Layers" are those outside of the "Main/Framing Layer" on the exterior and inside of the "Framing Layer" on the interior.

I don't see it and I don't think I ever have. Does it happen with all Plans? Could it be just in one Plan or Template? Could it be your system? video card? ????

Charlie, There is a setting for "Replace Surface Layers".

Wall Material Region - thinks I.

This is one of the few instances where I haven't been able to find help using F1. Evidently this Tool just got left out of the Help File.

If an object with a macro is copied into a Plan, the macro will then exist in that Plan. If it's your SAM or Perry's Default Template then it will be available there for the future. But, I still like to have them backed up in the Scripts Folder so they're available for other (older) Plans if needed.

Scott, I don't expect Chief to know exactly what we want in our Labels. If they did everything that every user wanted they would have to have a full time programmer writing macros. Ruby has all the capabilities but they need to make all the object data available, not just some of it.

Scott, Copy the .json file to your Chief Data/Scripts folder. Then Import it using Text Macro Management. This is the normal way to load macros into your plan. btw, I don't think this is the first time I've told you how to do this.

Right, I actually took a little simpler route with the size macro(s) as well as handling a round post. Plus I added the "Post Type" macro as an extra for what I usually want in addition to the size.

Johnny, I think it's in the old forum. Search for Window Wall, Storefront, etc. Basically what I did was use a "Railing Wall" using Glass Panels.

Alan, I think if you use the "Make Room Molding PLine" Tool before applying the Material Region then the Moldings will be correct.
