Hmmmm.... Short term memory loss - not good amigo.

Scott, Here's a link to the previous discussion: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/7086-drop-in-tub-surround/?hl=%2Binsert+%2Btub#entry63470 I had posted an example there and an explanation.

Scott, The rectangle only needs to be the same size as the tub and can/should be a transparent material initially.
-
Scott, We've gone over this before. The symbol must be created with the rectangular surface with the hole in it. That surface is then automatically made the same material as the countertop so that the rectangular hole is filled.

Rich, It's no more than you would get off of a lower sloped roof. The speed is faster at the eave line (ground level) so gutters are not effective. But if you had a roof on a 2 story building without gutters, you would get the same effect - it's just the law of gravity.

Delete Temporary Points in the CAD Tools

CA should (maybe) deal with a lot of things. It's just a matter of priorities. I think that in most cases they look at it from a standpoint of "Can you get there with the available tools?". If the answer is yes then the feature isn't a very high priority - unless of course enough users are screaming.

Ray Traces are by nature "Light Source Dependent" so you have to select the type of lighting. In this case, you would not want bright sunlight since it would create strong shadows. I would probably select "Overcast" and then after the RT was done adjust the Image Properties. For the "Overhead View" chose 3D > View Direction > Top

Alan, In order to create a "Split Landing" you will need to create 2 Landings and manually set their elevations. Then move them into place with the first run of stairs and add the second run of stairs. This should cause the stair sections to "bond" with the Landings at the correct heights. Another option is 3 sets of stairs with the middle section being just one or two treads. Then you can just use the "Click" Landing Tool to insert two Landings. This will actually provide a better stair having 2-3 risers in between the landings which is actually safer than a single riser which people tend not to expect.

Sherry, I find that the "Mono Slab" Foundation works pretty well for this. Chief always builds the Foundation on Floor 0. Such a Foundation has no Living Area. In addition, it's a whole lot easier to include a Slab Floor as a part of the Foundation and not have to fuss with a separate slab. Then the Basement (Full or Walkout) on Floor 1 can have spaces designated as Living or Non-Living and the Living Areas will be reported correctly using my "Living Area Bonus" package. Basically, if there's usable space (Garage, Living Space, etc) on the lower level I use Floor 1. If it's just a "Crawl Space" without a slab floor I will use Floor 0 and it's just the "Foundation". The only problem is in Labeling Floors but I label my Floors as "Basement", "First Floor", "Second Floor", etc. I don't use "Floor 0", "Floor 1", "Floor 2", etc.

Dennis, Sherry's method will work well for your configuration. But Chief doesn't include Floor 0 Living Area in calculations using custom user macros. This is because the Room Default Label is not assigned to the Exterior Room on Floor 0. So you might want to use Floor 1 for the Garage and lower level Living Spaces and limit Floor 0 to just the Foundation.
-
Dennis, I would show them on the upper floor. You can do this just by using the "Show on Floor Above" Edit Bar Tool.
-
Dennis, Check your Firewall and AV settings. The Win10 update tends to set things for max security - which IMO is generally a bit excessive.

How can I control drawing group of dimension lines?
Joe_Carrick replied to Nicinus's topic in General Q & A
Nick, Why not create a new Layer for the Garage, then put the Walls on that Layer and turn it off? It'll still be there but just not displayed. I am assuming you don't want to suppress it in 3D Views which would be a bit more difficult. -
I'm happy that worked for you.

I haven't tried this but have you tried a set of "Ceiling Planes" to match the bottom chord of the trusses and then "Framing" the Ceiling? If not Ceiling Planes then maybe Roof Planes. Once the Framing is done you can delete the Ceiling or Roof Plane and "retain framing". It might be easiest to do this on a copy of the plan and then create a symbol of the ceiling framing which could be placed in your plan. Multiple Roof Plane Framing within a plan can be tricky to control. OTOH, with trusses it's not as difficult to superimpose.

It depends on the object. For mirrors you can add a light source behind the mirror and offset the mirror so that it's a little off of the wall. For other objects you can do something similar and use translucent (semi-transparent) materials with light source(s) behind or you can make the material "emissive" Another option is to make the object a "Light Fixture" with one or more light sources. There are many ways to do this. It really depends on the desired effect.

You can send me a check, but you don't need a PayPal account to send funds using a credit card. IAE, click on the link in my Macro Subscription Thread. We can work out the payment method once I get that email from you.

The Ceiling Height can be formatted to feet and inches using a custom macro. If you subscribe to my "Macro a Month Club" ($30 per year) that formatting is one of the capabilities currently in the subscription. You would need a couple of additional user macros to complete your room label but I could do those as the December or January subscription. November has already been spoken for so if you need it sooner I would just charge an additional $15.
-
You can already do most of that in a Rich Text Box. The "2x6 C.J. at 16" O.C." is possible but that data isn't a part of the Room Attributes - so currently it would have to be manual text within the RTB. Once the RTB was created it could be copied to each room to pick up the Room Name, Ceiling Height and Floor Finish automatically. If all Ceiling Joists in a plan are the same size and spacing then that data could be retrieved as a global variable from the framing plan and used in the RTB using a custom macro.

You can't download the bonus libraries with the trial version. If you want the extra stuff you need the licensed pro version with SSA.

How to get the aspect of polished chrome on a spotlight
Joe_Carrick replied to cristianb's topic in General Q & A
Try a "Mirror" material. I find that's much more like a "Polished Chrome" and it provides the reflections in Ray Traces. -
The problem is that the 9'6" stairs would not reach the floor above. By opening the stair dbx you can edit the treads & risers so that it will reach (not a legal stair but it would make the "stairwell" tool work). Chief just needs the stair to reach the floor above in order to cut out a stairwell.

One thing to check would be some of the manufacturer catalogs. Chief may have your supplier's actual door symbol - or something very close. It would be a lot less work than doing a custom.
