  1. Now that's the best X8 sneak peek yet!!!
  2. I'm thinking that are probably wall connection issues. Chief will automatically circle those for you. Check the wall connections in those areas.
  3. Thanks Keith. Those are a near identical representation of the Lutron switches we often use. Thanks for sharing. Did you model those yourself?
  4. Hold on a second, CA didn't claim anything with regard to a sale on SSA. This thread was just started because a user was curious whether or not SSA ever went on sale and was perhaps muddled a bit with another thread where someone was asking for an SSA discount for faithful users...a silly and unreasonable idea in my opinion. SSA by very nature is already a discount for faithful users. Not a faithful user?? Then you pay the higher upgrade rates and SSA late renewal fees.
  5. You bet. Using a wall cabinet you'll have to use a custom countertop but it works.
  6. Odd issue. Not sure why its happening, but use a wall cabinet instead of a base for that corner unit and the problem goes away. I think it would be a good idea to send in that plan to tech support. Seems like a bug to me. Can't figure out any logical reason why that would be happening. If you pull that corner cabinet away, the extra moulding disappears. It doesn't show up till the 2 cabinets are connected.
  7. Not sure if you really got the answer you were looking for or not. I think Perry alluded to what you were seeking but didn't elaborate when he said "Rich text gives you more options for formatting text." Rich text gives you the ability to use Bold, Italics, Underline, etc. Normal text does not have these options.
  8. Here's a quick crappy video. Took forever to upload... http://screencast.com/t/lYKRyStXxc3
  9. For the sake of easier modeling, in order to avoid violating most stair codes, and to accomplish a more interesting look IMO, I would simply reshape that upper section of floor where the stairs terminate to accommodate the stair angle. It would meet code, would be more functional and would draw deliberate attention to what may otherwise look like a mistake or shawdy design/craftsmanship.
  10. This thread should answer your questions... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/6788-elevation-drawings-without-sub-grade-crap-showing/?hl=%2Bbelow+%2Bgrade
  11. Gotcha. Thanks Alan. I try to stay up date on all the newest lingo but its tough with new acronyms being invented daily.
  12. What the heck is "ALDO"? Did I perhaps skip class that day?
  13. Not sure if you were joking or not, but read Dermot's signature.
  14. I had originally voted "other", but I think I read the question or answers incorrectly.
  15. Or...if you have a larger monitor...print screen...paste into paint or photoshop. Save as whatever you want.
  16. SSA essentially IS a de facto discount for dedicated and faithful users.
  17. Not at my computer right now, but yes… This was a feature added with X7.
  18. Works fine for me as well. I can only get it to look like yours if I turn the lights off. I suspect as others have mentioned that it has something top do with your lighting, and as others have also said...attach the plan...it will help do away with a lot of the guesswork.
  19. I think this is perhaps one of the biggest mistakes we as Chief users make (actually probably true with life in general). That is...getting something to work but not quite knowing why. I find that when I take the time to understand why something is doing what it is, or how exactly to achieve the desired result, that time is extremely well spent. I'm able to work with confidence from that point forward not worried about crossing my eyes and fingers hoping the stars align and things all fall into place for me. I would strongly suggest that when you reach these points where you need to figure out how to do something that (as much as reasonably possible) you take the time to FULLY grasp what is going on. You'll be all the better for it and happy you did so.
  20. Hey guys, grass is always greener. Bear in mind that many of those other programs are extremely expensive, hard to learn, extremely rigid (as in... if there's no tool for the job there's simply no way to do it), and/or bloated and excessively time consuming. I know a lot of guys using those programs look at Chief and wish their terrain tools worked like that, or their library was that big, or they had certain residential tools, or the ability to modify cabinets like that, or that their program could produce a set of plans that quickly...the list goes on. From me to Chief, I want to say thank you. Thank you for producing such a great program, thank you for continuing to improve it, and thank you for taking the time to share a few of the things we get to look forward to with X8. I'm looking forward to it
