I have created a roof vent which I want to convert to a symbol that sits on the roof. Hopefully the symbol will automatically follow the roof pitch. I have tried converting my object to an external fixture, exterior furnishing, millwork and Geometeric shape symbol in the hope that I get an option to place on the roof; but alas I cannot find such an option. I have a vague idea I was able to do this years ago on an earlier version. The product is an E-vent. I think this is only manufactured in Western Australia. see https://cmiwa.com.au/e-vent/. The company does not produce a 3D symbol, but I have made a reasonable replica. Generally the event it design for a ridge, as shown on the website and therefore positioned in a level plane, but when fixed on a skillon roof the vent length run follows the pitch. That is the standard 1500 long vent follows the run of the roof sheet. Can Chief produce such a symbol, that adjusts to the roof pitch?.

I am aware there is the standard centering text horizontally, but it there a command to centre the text vertically This would be useful to the title block in layout. If my title block is full the text box is nicely proportioned, but the title block is a one line the proportion is out of whack. Am I miss a command already there...or is a method to overcome this??

What is the best method to place cornice (crown mould) to a raking (sloping) ceiling?

It seems X12, with in new 'Saved Plan View Control' system only applies to plan views and is not an option for cad details or camera elevations. This is a problem when is using the same cad detail for 2 or more different views. For example when viewing scale 1:10 is need to turn off the scale 1:50 text etc. I have turned on 'Active Layer Set Contol' tool in the cad detail to try overcome this, but this then over rides the previous view (different scale) of the same detail in the layout page. That is, my scale 1:10 also display the !50 texts and details. This was straight forward in X11 without the Saved Plan View Control. By the way I am enjoying the Saved Plan View Control has I get more familiar. It seems the best way to overcome this is to duplicate the cad detail (though duplicate is never efficient) or draw the cad detail in the plan view. Am I missing a control or method?? Any suggestion. I guess a training video will bring me up to speed with the change.

Is there a method to delete all the revisions in the layout pages and start again? It appears I need to delete the revision items on each page at a time. (I have 23-25 pages!!) I have a method of noting revisions alphabetical during the preliminary/tender stage and then displaying revisions numerical once a contract is entered into. This method allows to me to delete all revisions during the preliminary/tender stage, thus reducing confusion. I now want to delete all the alphabetic items and begin my contract revisions numerical. I have tried deleting the complete table and then re-entering a new revision table, but the programs automatically remembers the alphabetical list. Any clues? Rob White Chief X11

Where do can I change the Glazing Type in the window schedule. There is a default setting somewhere, that I need to change. Thanks you to the CA experts. I don't take for granted the speed and specialist information provide on this forum.

The new release CAX11 has bifold option for doors. Bifold window are yet to be included. I have threfore used the bifold door option to create a bi-fold window. The elevation view (i.e. bifold door with a raise sill) look like a genuine bifold window. Is it possible to then get then bifold door into the window shedule? Or does anyone have a good alternation, that produce a bifold system in the window schedule?

How do I import Revit symbols. The file format is #.RFA? Sketch up doesn't offer an import option either. Any clues?

Has anyone worked out an automated method of drawings roller doors? Really the only difference with garage doors is getting rid of wide throw panel-lift plan view. I'd hoped the CAX11 addition of increasing the Garage Door Vertical Panels option may have catered for this. Not so.

Humbug...It did not work. It is working my robe sliding door, but not on the other doors. I have just solved it. I did adjust he 'Ignore Casing for Opening Resize', which didn't allow me to change but when I click the 'Through Wall' option I was able to make the change. Love your membership photo! Rob

How do I position a door jamb hard against an intersecting wall? At the moment The door jamb sit about 1 stud thickness away from the junction. I think their an adjustment for this somewhere in the preference. Or at least there was in the past.

Is there a quick way to download the bonus and manufacturer's library catalogs. The only system I know is individually download each library category and there is about 50 such categories. Just upgraded to CAX11 and I didn't have them in the previous version so the library's were not transferred in the simple upgrade

Any suggestion for showing 'phantom' flyscreen, or retractable style flyscreens to bifold doors. The bifolds are outward openning and the phantom screen are interal, attached to either each side or one side and slide across to provide the screened protection. I have simply drawings a 2D cad arrangment with notation on the floor plan. This is not in 3D, and though not essential would be handy

What is the best way to include/show security or flyscreen doors to entry doors? The CA do that? (I have just upgraded to CAX11)

Whoopse. I take that back! The raked ceiling does show....only rakes 3º. I didn't notice. Generally I consider myself an experienced CA user...Ha!

Can I show raking ceilings in wall elevation mode. My current view don't. The view is cut off at standard ceiling level. I don't really want to edit a section view. Is there a camera adjust/method?

I am aware of generally hiding the metric units on dimension lines and default door & window labels, but I am not sure how hide the units when I specify the height and width of a window under the specify label section of the window or door menu box. I am having difficulty with a CAD detail created from a view. This seems be be concerning regularly. Some of the lines freeze as if the line does not exist. The lines cannot be selected and deleted. These unwanted lines do remain visible on the layout sheet, The only way I have been able to resolve this is be re-creating the CAD detail and starting again. This gets very frustrating and time consuming. Has anyone experienced this and been able to resolve it (Other than starting again.) I don't think I have attached the detail without attached to whole file.

I am trying to place a gutter moulding in my section detail, however it's not allowing to do so. I have located the moulding profile in the library and right click on the item and which displays a menu including the option to 'place moulding profile, which I understand allow me to place a 2D copy of the shape in the drawing detail. Its not working. Can anyone tell me what I am not doing. Hopefully its me and nor a system glinc using Cheif X10
