  1. Is there an method within the cabinet menu to create an island base cabinet with a 200-300 overhand on the back and sides but with the standard 25mm (1") front overhang? I can only find a tab in the cabinet menu that increases the overhang on all faces. There is also a tab that allows flat sides or back, but not the fronts. I use Chief 18 Rob
  2. Thanks again. I done. Rob
  3. Chief X8 user. How do I change the roof material from tile to corrugation steel. I understand of the material and have the product. The programme defaults to tile but I need corrugated. Previous version had the roof cover under material in the roof plane specification menu, but version 18 has roof plane (under the material tab), but only has the options for fascia and soffit/eaves. How do I change the roof plan material. Rob
  4. Brilliant. Appreicate your prompt response. I always simple...just finding is difficult Rob
  5. I use Chief 18. How do you get rib of the small wall frame return to the internal sliding door as per the attached image. In previous versions I had eliminated the return so the sliding door was flush with the opposing wall, but I am not sure how I did it. Any suggestion? Rob
  6. Chief X8 - how you do use lower case for room labels? This seems to have changed for X7, which provided a ticked box in the room Specification menu.
  7. Patten link is founf here: http://www.cadhatch.com/autocad-wood-hatch-patterns/4588167681
  8. Sorry...I worked it out. I have found a free .pat download site. Imported the file through custom fill and it look great.
  9. Has anyone got acces to timber end grain fill patterns? I don't think there is anything in the standard fill patterns for end grains. There is plenty of timber grain pattern.
  10. Is it possible to dimension a radius? I am drawings a roadway and carpark. Rob
  11. It seems on CA17 using the standard balustrade I cannot a bottom rail. I see there a tick box to add the rail a landing. Is there a method for this. I seem to remember doing this on earlier version.
  12. Just another piece on info. The wall cover in the room menu must not be used in order for wall height to be edited in elevation views. This caused a little frustration but more so a sign once i managed to work it out. Mind you before working it out I had produce a whole partition system in sketchup. Now I have both!
  13. Is it possible to run the base board on cabinet kickboards. I need to run coving at the junction of all vertical to floor connections. If I set it up as base moulding in the room menu it only generates on the walls not the cabinet base Any hints Rob.
  14. I am attempting to draw toilet partitioning. I seems to work well expect when I raise the door 150mm (6") off the floor the to create an opening/gap below the door, the wall automatically generate wall panel under the door so there is no gap. Is there a method to retain the gap? Using CA X7
  15. I have drawn a shower screen symbol in sketch up and transferred it to chief (CA X7), but I cannot make the glass transulent. The glass is transparent in the 3D view, but not in vector as a room elevations. I have tried assign glass material in CA, but the item is not transparent. I have also assign glass in shetckup before transferring but it is still not see through. I have over come the problem by deleting the glass in sketchup and simply retained the frame. This appears OK on my CA room elevations. But its not correct. Does anyone have a solution? Rob
  16. I have managed to delete the unwanted line.
  17. Has anyone created custom lines with character symbols (ie an arrow for the character map) or found a source that can produce double or triple lines that can be imported? I have also produced some lines I would now like to delete. I created some new line and they have been imported into the line style menu and I cannot work out how to delete the unwanted ones. I thought there might be line manager similar to the CAD Block Management, but I have not found such an option.. I use CA X7
  18. Does X7 allow external sliding doors to be centered in a cavity wall (in plan view)? Similar to inset adjustment in windows frame menu. I have discovered there is now an inset value added to a door jamb, but this only moves the jamb, not the door panels. The sliding door panels (in plan view) do not move with the jamb. As far as I am aware this was not an option in version X6 and earlier.
  19. Thanks guys. I get frustrated with this programme, but when I discover the right way its brilliant.
  20. Symbol do not have the option for move to front. The only icon button I know for solid fill is in the symbol menu/2D block and I have the 'Fill" tab ticked (ie solid fill) and the colour white
  21. I have created my own symbol for a toilet as shown in the attachment. However the tiled background in the plan view continues through the toilet pan. In the symbol specificaiton I have 'filled' the 2D Block which is self generate, but only the flush is fill. The tiled floor is blotted out in the flush and not the pan. I get this problem reoccurring on a few custom made symbols.
  22. I have a door & frame I want to set into a 300mm (12") thick wall (rammed earth) When I adjust the frame thickness to 150mm (6") with an off-set of 75mm the frame is place centrally in the wall as per the attached photo. (in the 'interior Door specification menu>Jamb'), however the door is not set inline with the frame. The door appear hinging from the outer line of the wall. See the attached. Is it possible to set the door, in plan view to hinge from the frame not the wall. I have played with a few adjustments in the door specification ie. options, casing, framing but there does appear to an adjustment for this application. Has anyone dealt with this sort of thing.
  23. Is there a system to automatically label stair tread numbers. If not it there a way to set up a macro or using ruby? I use CAX7
  24. I use CAX7 I am having issues with a 3 storey design on the elevations. The external cladding is broken by the floor, whereas the cladding should pass through as a full cladded facade. Some wall are OK others are not. All the wall specifications under the tab 'structure' are the same. I have attached a screen print on my attempt. I have transferred this on going project from CAV5 to CAV7. Anyone got any clues. External Cladding Fault.pdf
  25. Sorry I have been out of the loop. Yes your 3D picture I perfect. I am mainly concerned with 2D section drawings. I think I know how to do this, but just incase is there a training video I can reference?
