  1. I have drawn a shower screen symbol in sketch up and transferred it to chief (CA X7), but I cannot make the glass transulent. The glass is transparent in the 3D view, but not in vector as a room elevations. I have tried assign glass material in CA, but the item is not transparent. I have also assign glass in shetckup before transferring but it is still not see through. I have over come the problem by deleting the glass in sketchup and simply retained the frame. This appears OK on my CA room elevations. But its not correct. Does anyone have a solution? Rob
  2. I have managed to delete the unwanted line.
  3. Has anyone created custom lines with character symbols (ie an arrow for the character map) or found a source that can produce double or triple lines that can be imported? I have also produced some lines I would now like to delete. I created some new line and they have been imported into the line style menu and I cannot work out how to delete the unwanted ones. I thought there might be line manager similar to the CAD Block Management, but I have not found such an option.. I use CA X7
  4. Does X7 allow external sliding doors to be centered in a cavity wall (in plan view)? Similar to inset adjustment in windows frame menu. I have discovered there is now an inset value added to a door jamb, but this only moves the jamb, not the door panels. The sliding door panels (in plan view) do not move with the jamb. As far as I am aware this was not an option in version X6 and earlier.
  5. Thanks guys. I get frustrated with this programme, but when I discover the right way its brilliant.
  6. Symbol do not have the option for move to front. The only icon button I know for solid fill is in the symbol menu/2D block and I have the 'Fill" tab ticked (ie solid fill) and the colour white
  7. I have created my own symbol for a toilet as shown in the attachment. However the tiled background in the plan view continues through the toilet pan. In the symbol specificaiton I have 'filled' the 2D Block which is self generate, but only the flush is fill. The tiled floor is blotted out in the flush and not the pan. I get this problem reoccurring on a few custom made symbols.
  8. I have a door & frame I want to set into a 300mm (12") thick wall (rammed earth) When I adjust the frame thickness to 150mm (6") with an off-set of 75mm the frame is place centrally in the wall as per the attached photo. (in the 'interior Door specification menu>Jamb'), however the door is not set inline with the frame. The door appear hinging from the outer line of the wall. See the attached. Is it possible to set the door, in plan view to hinge from the frame not the wall. I have played with a few adjustments in the door specification ie. options, casing, framing but there does appear to an adjustment for this application. Has anyone dealt with this sort of thing.
  9. Is there a system to automatically label stair tread numbers. If not it there a way to set up a macro or using ruby? I use CAX7
  10. I use CAX7 I am having issues with a 3 storey design on the elevations. The external cladding is broken by the floor, whereas the cladding should pass through as a full cladded facade. Some wall are OK others are not. All the wall specifications under the tab 'structure' are the same. I have attached a screen print on my attempt. I have transferred this on going project from CAV5 to CAV7. Anyone got any clues. External Cladding Fault.pdf
  11. Sorry I have been out of the loop. Yes your 3D picture I perfect. I am mainly concerned with 2D section drawings. I think I know how to do this, but just incase is there a training video I can reference?
  12. I need to draw the 70x45 roof battens placed over the truss top cord. I understand chief general draws this details as blocks between trusses, but this is not how we do it in Oz. If I thinken the roof sheet to 61mm (i.e. 45mm battens + 16mm roof sheet) so i can then manually drawings the batten in the section this works OK. But doing this method the eaves gutter also drops by 45mm. I don't want this to happen. It there a training video for this or does anyone know of a method?
