  1. Oh dear I was hopeful of a solution. I think it was early than version 13 when I first experienced and reported the fault. It is ok in a floor plan or large view to group select text boxes, but its frustrating when I need to open every room elevation to select and fix 1 item. Never mind...soldier on. Thank you.
  2. My understanding this text box problem has been going of your years. Is there a way to solve it? For whatever reason the last word or letter in a text box disappears. Simply by opening and closing the text box the missing word/letter reappears and the resolves the issue. The problem seems to occur when I open the plan or layout on another computer. However it is now always occurring when I disconnect or reconnect my laptop from my docking station. The problem only occurs if I open the drawings while disconnected. If I don't open the drawing while disconnected and then reconnection to the docking station the problem does not occur. I mentioned this fault years ago on chief support and my response was; Chief were not sure how it occurs or how to solve it. Is this still the case? Generally I managed to solve the issue by simply going through the drawings and reopening and closing the text box. This reset and corrects the text. I have been caught occasionally by sending out a finish drawing with the end of texts missing. That's is frustrating. I now have about 20+ pages of drawings with this problem is on every page and every view. Does anyone have this problem? Is there something I am not doing or is this still a software problem?
  3. Is the a new place for changing the opening indicators and was it there in X12? Have only ever made this change in the preferences menu?. Thanks for the tip. Indicators change and everything is sweet. Rob
  4. I am using the Chief X13 and trying to change my door opening indicators lines, so that my elevation view show the opening indicators point to the handles. Chief X13 only has a single selection options compared to previous version's dual options. The CA X13 'preference/Architectural/Legacy File Configuration/hinge opening: hinge indicators point to hinge' if unchecked should change my view to pointing to the handle but nothing changes; whether checked or unchecked. Unless I can get the opening indicators pointing to the handle side my builders will be confused. Am I not doing something or is this a program fault?
  5. Reckon I will call this post resolved. Thanks for your info MarkMc. I got the updated driver last night, but to no avail. I could see the quadro driver listed, but greyed out...it would turn on or be recognised the NVIDIA driver. Somehow, this morning, the RTX Quadro 3000 kicked in...with no help from Microsoft surface support, 1/2+ calls dropping out, transferred support calls from dept to dept etc. (at least it was only 1/2 hr...ish). Sometime I think these computers are living being...a good overnight sleep/rest...and they sort themselves out. Sometimes I wish they were alive enough to feel some pain! (Nothing to do with the operator of course!) Now I can catch up on my lovely patient clients.
  6. attached is my screen shot.
  7. I have the RTX video card which is meant to be the correct one for the X13. I returned my laptop which only had the Quadro video card, knowing the X13 would require the RTXC upgrade. The attached screen shot displays a bit of odd pixel blemishes in the menu window and the error message states 'An internal rendering error has occurred and program will terminate.'..and it does. When I do this particular room change the error occurs every time, but on other rooms and views it occurs randomly I have tried with the laptop only and with the Docking station. Their is no different. The docking station is via a USB-C cable, which just mean the full capacity of the laptop video card is used. (Other, or older USB type docking stations are limited to the video card to the docking station. I am not that technically minded...but it will probably be difficult to get the right tech support from a computer professional unfamiliar with Chief. Any thoughts?
  8. I am experiencing frequent crashing on my X13 went make adjustments to the material selection. Sometimes changing the material happens ok and other time (frequently) the programme crashes. I am using Microsoft surface book 3, with the new required video card (). I have made the report and check the fault via the Chief website which didn't help. No doubt this is me, but any help would be appreciated. Rob White Loving all the upgrades!
  9. I often have a programme inconsistency which does not transfer selected light shaded lines, such as light grey, to a camera section detail. See my attached screenshot. I have set the fill (timber grain) to a light grey, but the view retains only black lines. I only know 2 ways to overcome this is open a new new plan file, but that is not an option when I have already produce a lot work and details; or converting the view to a 'CAD detail from view', but that is not helpful. Obviously when converted to a cad detail I lose all the auto 3D updates. This seems to occur when I have a lot of details on a large jobs. Although particular job is not large. Sometime, time or the age of the file, seems effect this fault. This job is now about 8 weeks old, which is my normal process of moving from preliminary design to working drawings. When transferring the camera view detail to a layout page the black lines are retained, not the light grey. The view does not correct itself if the 'send to layout' is live or plot lines. It seems the programme does not register my light grey selection. This seems to be programme fault not my settings. I use the same template, but this problem only occurs sometimes. Anyone familiar with the issue. Any helps or suggestions to overcome it.
  10. Thanks. Glennw response is where I thought the limit was and that is fine. I have the wire mesh material.
  11. Any suggestions as best to do a perforated mesh awning? I tried drawings a symbol, but 20,000 holes just about stalled my programme! I think my computer would shut down if I tried to create it in 3D with shadowing. Is there a premade symbol somewhere? I am hopeful of a material that would cast a reasonable but transparent shadow. Should I do something with heavy tinted glass to cast a transparent shadow? Any suggestion?
  12. Thanks. I am new to the term Nested Cad Block. Now that will help me sort it.
  13. Somehow in the passed of have created a 2D block and added it to my 3D symbol. In fact I did it successful last week. Below is the sample of the imported 3D symbol which only generates a vague sink outline. I want to add the more detailed 2D cad view on the right to the symbol. Below is the basin symbol I created last week, by adding a better detailed 2D view. The original basin symbol I imported only had a vague 2D plan view, until I edited it. As far as I am aware I used the method I described earlier to do this. Obviously not...or it not working this time I have not found anything on the training video. I did learn this method...a method... more than 3 years ago (could be 5 years!), but that forum blog has been deleted.
  14. I am trying to create a new sink symbol by adding a separate more detailed 2D block. However, my new 2D CAD Block is not listing the CAD Block Management file, so I cannot link it to the symbol. I have produced a new 2D cad block by selecting the CAD detail and then pressing the 'Make CAD Block' icon. The cad block has been created successfully and renamed appropriately. When I do this I understood the cad block is automatically generated into the Cad Block Management file. However my newly generated CAD block in not listed. I have also tried adding the cad block to the library, but this added the detail to the CAD Block Management file either.. What am I missing? Help!
  15. Is there method to attached mouldings to follow the slope and perimeter of a raked ceiling?
  16. I'll take my previous post back. (Shame when it posted the deed is done...no taking back, apart from retreating & exposing my great chief skill...or lack therefore). There seems to have been a delayed regeneration of the road 3D view. Something happened since making the initial post. The kerb hasn't disappeared but has ramped/ feathered to the connecting driveway. Not quite what I want, but with a little more manipulating I should get there.
  17. I have the 'Cut Kerb (or Curb) at driveway and Sidewalks' ticked on, but the kerb is not deleted where the driveway or sidewalk joins? Anyone know why?
  18. How do I raise the roof soffit? Under the Roof Plan Specification - Structure - I have boxed eave which should come at fascia level, but it is always lower. I have an air gap between the eaves soffit and the fascia.
  19. I have used the curved stair tool to draw a spiral stair case. Is there an adjustment to produce a round outer circumference instead of the polygon configuration? Current view, as attached below shows straight edged at each tread which produces an polygon rather than a circle.
  20. Can the bifold doors display the opening indicator line as standard for hinged doors? Is it also possible to show automatic opening indicators for sliding doors. In the case of sliding doors the opening indicators would be arrows and perhaps F for fixed panel. ??
  21. The above frame layout requires 2/90x35 stud to suit a wall upto 4200mm high (13'9") highest point
  22. I just get the detail together and attach it...in 15 mins
  23. Is there a method for automatically generating a wall framing with double 90x45 studs @ 450 centers. I know I can produce 90x90 studs at 450 and then manually changed the studs to 45 and then duplicate the studs, but is the an auto system. My project current project only involves 1 wall so manual alternation is not a big issue, but if I were to do this for a whole house the manual adjustment would be quite involved.
  24. Is there a method to draw a fence over a retaining wall? Typically drawings a wall over a wall deletes the primary wall. The retaining wall is a 350 thick limestone wall and the fence over is a SS post and rail with horizontal SS cable infill. The balustrade is positioned central to the wall
