  1. I did just mange to dsplay in blue by converting the import to PDF. It just strange the jpeg import only work in black and white
  2. I have imported a photo, blue coloured on the attached elevation (PDF print). The photo should be coloured blue. The same as the yacht mural blue. The elevation is in vector mode. I have set the 'send to layout' as Plot line and checked colour fill The Photo dialogue box is not set to black or white or gray scale. I have tried importing the photo as jpeg and png. Why is the image not in colour? GYC Front Elevation010818.pdf
  3. Where are the custom library/symbols stored. I want to store is on my data cloud so my laptop updates automatically from what I create on the desktop...or vice versa. Ignore this if its too technical....
  4. Can anyone recommend a good place to source 3D models/symbol sliding stacker doors. I have tried sketch up model but they are not really satisfactory. Is there a good method to build one in CA or should I import. My opening is 10 000m x 2800mm for a 6 panel sliding centre from each side. ie. 3 tracks
  5. Just run into another snag. I adjusted the material regions wall in default whilst in the upper level, then viewed the elevation and drew, with a rectangular polyline the area of the material region and converted the rectangle to a material region. As long as I am in the upper level in elevation the material converts ok but as soon as produce it in the ground level the material region is not displaying in the both the plan view and the elevations. Strange. Can you help? Rob
  6. Brilliant! Thank you...thank you. So simple. Works far better than my laborious slab manipulation.
  7. I have not drawn it yet. I have attached photo of the existing structure which shows the concrete column and beam structure set in 50mm from the brick cavity. This will be difficult to draw using the CA cavity system as the wall will cover the columns and beam. Thus my thinking to drawing the internal brick skin only and then manually draw the outer skin, columns & beams in slab form so I can manipulate the inset concrete structure and proud brickwork. If the concrete was proud with conventional drawing cavities would be OK. I have attached a screenshot of the section of the building I have drawings to illustrate the layout. The plan file, which is part of the overall development is larger than 25MB limit so I cannot upload the complete file. (too much other info anyway) On the attached screen shot I have drawn the column as a 3D slab with the outer brick skin as a slab. I have placed the windows in inner shin brickwork, drawn as a 110mm brick wall and adjusted the window frame and off set to force the window through the outer brickwork drawn as a slab. Hopefully there is a simpler system screenshot Geraldton Yacht Club GF.pdf
  8. What is the best method to draw a 2 storey concrete column and beam structure with the cavity brick infill panels that are 50mm proud of the concrete. I have drawn the concrete and beam as slabs and the a single skin of brickwork (inner cavity skin) and then a slab for the outer brick shin. This gives a true layout for elevations. but this makes it difficult to place windows through the cavity. I am trying to generate a model of an existing building for alterations. Anyone have experience on this style?
  9. Found it. I realize the soffit is fixed to the underside of the eaves sub fascia. By adjusting the sub fascia I can adjust the level of the soffit. This probably falls into the category of 'foolish' considering the length of time I've been a chief user!
  10. Can anyone tell me how to raise the height of the roof eave sheet. A boxed eave as per the attached section (PDF). I have tried deleting the eave sheet (which I am sure is the soffit) by unchecking the Roof Plane Specification>structure>soffit I have tried reducing the eave sub fascia I have played with the boxed eave: Higher Eaves Boxed check on Roof Plane Specification>options. Hopefully there is something real simple I am not doing...hopefully not too foolish! see the attachement eave sheet.pdf
  11. Think I found it. Under Building Framing>Plan Display...but let me know if this is correct/not correct
  12. Where has the 'Fill New Frame Members' under Cad defaults gone? This was under Cad Default>General Cad in CAX9 but has disappeared in CA X10
  13. Is the a system to automatically draw roller doors. When placing a garage door the plan view is alway a panel lift system. I have drawn a roller door by manually creating an opening, the drawing a box in plan view to simulate a door and then done something in the elevation to show a closed door. Any short cuts? Using Chief 20
  14. I have imported a bath symbol (a sketch up item). The actual size of the import configured at 1/10 the size. I then opened the symbol specification box and correct the symbol size using the 'Bounding Box Dimensions' (i.e. the import size was X = 167mm; Y=76mm; z=43mm, which I increased to x=1670; y=760; z=430) and the symbol adjusted correctly in plan view. However the same correctly adjusted symbol in elevation view display the bath as 1/10 the size. When I highlight the symbols in the elevation view the handles of the bounding box is the correct scale/size, but the picture is only the imported 1/10 size. See the screen print attached showing the displayed bath @1/10 and the bounding box outline @ correct scale. NOTE: the 3D camera view is also @ 1/10 the size. What do I do? Currently using cheif 20 beta Rob CA20 Elevation View (Bath).pdf
  15. is it possible to display walls and moulding (cornice & skirtings) in the Wall Elevation camera views?
  16. Ok, that has made the difference. I was aware of this so having exploded the block I reselected but was then of given the explode option again so I assumed there were no other blocks within in my selection, but that was not the case. I had to continue to select all items individually to find the blocks within. Doesn't matter I found it. Thanks.
  17. Why does a 2D image, which appears in my Cad block manager, not appear in my 2D block under the Symbol Specification? I use Chief X9
  18. Is it possible for Chief to import *.rfa file? or is this an online conversion programme that will allow this? This is a symbol produce for the CAD Revit programme. I have attached the file. A Cygnet toilet suite.
  19. Sorry I did check the Revit file is rfa (not RAF)

  21. Has anyone placed metal fascia in the plans? It should go in as a custom 'mould' profile, similar to importing a custom gutter, but chief only has a standard timber style. I was attempting to combine the metal fascia mould with the gutter and import it via the custom gutter menu, but there might be a better way. Any suggestion?
  22. Yes that's it. Makes sense. Thank you Rob
  23. I am having trouble adding custom gutters. The reference manual shown a 'gutter' tabs in the roof plane specification menu, but on my programme is does not shown a gutter tab. On this job I have added a cumstom gutter. Initially I could not find the tab and then suddenly it appeared. But today it has disappeared, even though the custom gutter is still drawn. Both the attached menus are from the CAX9 manual and programme. No doubt this is another CA strange happening. My guess is it simple to solve, probaly even basic, but I think you need the same strange twist! Anyone the know what I'm doing or not doing? Roof Menu CAX9.pdf
