  1. Was it working okay until you did the Sierra upgrade? I had all sorts of crashes after running it and had to revert back.
  2. Last time I had crashes I couldn't zero down, Tech sent me to these articles, and creating a new user account is listed as something to try. Windows - https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03049/ Mac - https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02940/ I also have an automated backup of any changes made to my Documents directory which the Data folder is in, and I believe that's where the user catalog is. I've never needed to use it for Chief though.
  3. If the file locations haven't changed significantly between versions, this article should help. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00001/migrating-chief-architect-to-a-new-computer.html

KB-00562 - Guide to File Management for Chief Architect Files https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00562/ Video 5411 - Saving and Storing Plan Files https://video.chiefarchitect.com/player/player.php?id=190&th=1&autoplay= KB-03003 - Using the Project Browser https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03003/
  6. Anyone with X8 could open one of your old v8 files, set the Plan Default flag and return it to you so that you could look at it and see how editing works in Home Designer 2017 programs. You just can't save with the trial.
  7. Thanks all for your suggestions! Graham's door symbol is going to work out just great for what I need this time around.
  8. The only solution I've found is to Save As PDF from Chief, then print the PDF file.
  9. How are ya'll modeling glazed cabinets? Special materials? Customized cabinet doors? What's the best way to go about this?

  11. https://video.chiefarchitect.com/?search=2015+User+Group I can only find the ones on Rendering & Ray Tracing (did there used to be more?)

  13. I think you missed the point that this guy wants to pay money renew his SSA so that he can get access to the Beta, but their website isn't letting him.
  14. What did Sales say when you talked to them?
  15. The fill of your walls is controlled by the Wall Type (not on a Layer Set basis), but you could maybe add a Wall Hatch and turn off the display of Walls, Hatching (or move it to a different layer) on a Layer Set basis. Chief usually handles existing/new a bit differently than you're trying to do though. Maybe check out this article? http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02208/showing-the-as-built-in-a-remodel-plan.html
  16. Apologize for wasting anyone's time, it turns out I missed the obvious . . . The free version of SketchUp Make that I already have on my computer has a 3D Text tool that does exactly what I need.
  17. I'm sorry, I should have said that I already know about Chief's 3D text, but to be honest, it isn't very visually appealing, and I have to place it letter by letter and get their heights and sizes all oriented correctly relative to each other and it's a pain. Elefont sounded like it would be a very nice way to quickly create 3D symbols of whatever words or phrases I needed using any TTF font on my system.
  18. I came across an old ChiefTalk thread recommending this utility for creating 3D Text that can be imported in to Chief, but despite my best efforts, I can't find an updated version. Does anyone know of programs similar to or better than Elefont that would be supported on the Mac or Windows 10? I'm hesitant to even attempt to install this version I found online that has System Requirements of "Windows XP/2000/NT 4.0/95/98" http://www.armanisoft.ch/elefont/Elefont.html Much thanks!
  19. After looking at your plan, I'm confused on what you're asking for or where the screen is supposed to go. Did you see the replies in your earlier thread, where I believe one gentleman modified your plan to have lattice in the foundation level?
  20. Your post is missing the plan attachment.
  21. Were you able to take Tommy up on his offer, or are you still seeking assistance?
  22. Does turning Line Weights on/off affect the "black spot"? - If so, find whatever object is in the very middle of the "black spot" and open it's Spec dialog and check to see if you have the Line Weight for it set to be unusually high.
  23. I see it in X6, but not X7. If you select it, the room to the left highlights, so it looks like a wall connection problem that was fixed in the newer version.
