Roof would probably need to be segmented to create the curve. You might consider drawing something similar in a new drawing and let chief roof it for you to get the idea. As far as being built the framer would probably just bend the wall rat sill on that curve and then attach the studs and curve the top plates. Something tighter would probably require another method.

I always felt like Chief just substituted the cabinet for the DW. It was quick and clean resulting in the same outcome which is the DW being between two cabinets with a countertop. The he new way allows more control and extends to other under counter appliances such as mini fridges, ice makers, etc. I suppose that is the trade off.

yeah. Thanks. I was hoping to keep the centerline line type as well. For me the centerline line type is enough to indicate center of the object being dimensioned to without the mark.

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of that setting BUT I want to keep the centerline extension. When I turn off "Mark as centerline" the extensions change to continuous lines. May be a limitation. I might look at changing my overall dim text height.

Is there a way to suppress the "CL" for the centerline dimensions and keep the centerline extension? OR Control just the size of the CL mark? I like it BUT the mark can clutter the drawings. Thanks Shane

Your marks over the street names are a layer in the PDF so they can be moved or removed easily. I am sure your intention was for the marks to be permanent which means they should be embedded or "flattened" with the layer of the original pdf doc.

This is doable but tricky. First off the top of the exterior wall in the front that should extend up into the dormers has a set ht for some reason and not responding to the normal top of wall directives which is to seek the height of the ceiling or roof. Once you get that corrected, the next thing you will want to do is adjust the roof opening at the dormers out to the outside face of the dormer/ext wall so that it extends up to the dormer gable. Then draw your side dormer walls, aka cheek walls. In the wall dbx (dialog box) setting you will set them as follows , on the structure panel "Balloon through ceiling" and on roof panel, roof cuts wall at bottom. The roof opening may adjust on its own to cut the wall as intended. I have found that sometimes I have finagle it. Getting the front corners to cleanup might be challenging to BUT can be accomplished with the wall layer cleanup tool. Hopefully this will get you going in the right direction. Turn off the framing layer in that camera.

I am on Tahoe 26.1 MBP and X17 and haven't had any issues with performance. I am at the same location 95% of the time so I can't comment on network and location performance.

Thanks for the reply. I understood the "relativity" I just didn't know if there were some other functionality to control where the object rotates or heads to. What I didn't mention in this thread is that when you rotate an object, say a polygon, representing a rafter and the cut edge is down to the right and it's at 5/12 pitch. If you rotate it absolute to 6/12 it rotate it all the way around with the plumb cut edge on the upper left. Having said all this, your comments provided some insight on how I can accomplish some of the things I didn't think I could do earlier. Particularly the multiple copy feature for pitched angles. Polar being checked does not work on the left, just use the relative coordinates. As usual I was overthinking. Thanks

I have noticed that X17 has the ability to use the pitch to rotate objects as one of the number styles. I really like this feature!!!! ... Seems like tho it only works on right side of the Y axis. For instance if you input a line using the tab key and change the angle to 4 in 12 it will go from the point up and right. If you use a -4 in 12 heading, it goes down and to the right. Is there a way I haven't discovered yet to have the pitch heading go left?

This is a great tip. Thanks for sharing.... I haven't finished the plan yet. I leave the size label on while I am drawing the plans. Once I get close to completion I will turn that off and the call out will move over the top of the window. I like your idea too. Again, thanks for sharing that.

Kinda confused on what you are trying to do. A little more context might help. Post your plan. To do that exit your plan in chief and then compress it to a .zip file and upload it here. To adjust door swings and knobs, select the cabinet, open the dbx (dialog box) to edit. Click on the "Front/Sides/Back" panel on the left.

Is the screen shot from X16?

On porches where I have columns I use the rail tool, post to beam, to draw the porch rail and the columns. Sometimes I don't need the actual rail so I just turn it all off. If I want 8" columns, then I make the rail wall 8". This is because I want the porch beam above to be the same width. The problem I run into is that I want the width of the rail wall to display as hidden lines and the columns to display solid. BUT the columns adopt the same line type as the wall. Is there a way to have them to display differently? I have even tried to select a column symbol for the newels and it changes the line type of the symbol too. Thanks

Yes. I have reviewed this panel in my dimension setup. BUT I can't find where I can set it to go to center of door to center of wall like it did in X16. As you can see the dim goes to the face of the wall to center. This even though under Wall Options Interior is set to Centers and nothing else. I can and will adapt. I just didn't know if there was a setting I was missing somewhere. Might be worth a support ticket to Chief to just ask. Thanks

I just changed over to X17. When click on a door or opening, I noticed that my temp dimensions now go to face of wall. Before they were in the center of the wall. I know temp dimension settings are in the dimension style now. If there is a setting for this behavior, I am not finding it..... Note: when I click on a wall, the temp dimensions are to the center of interior wall so I am unsure what is different when click on a doorway. Thanks in advance.

I do this by keeping the main floor of the house at 0" elevation. In the garage I would set it to minus 12 if I wanted a 12" drop. The grade would be set at -16" such that the grade was 4" below the garage floor. It's hard for me to determine what's causing your issue without being able to look at the plan. I suggest sharing it here so some of us can have a look and help you.
