  1. Naw I rarely have ever needed to make a copy of my layouts. you can, of course. It just doesn't come up all that often. slight correction, once you send a view to a Layout the layout then gets saved with the plan's name in the same spot as the plan. So if you start with RingosPlan.plan and then just hit Send to Layout without opening a layout first, you'll get a RingosPlan.layout.
  2. Exactly. Just remember to Save the current changes THEN do a Save As. Can't stress that enough. Never Save As without normal Save first. ex: Day 1: Create RingosPlan.plan, send views to RingosLayout.layout Save/Save As: RingosPlan 12-1-24.plan Day 2: Open RingosPlan.plan, send views to RingosLayout.layout Save/Save As: RingosPlan 12-2-24.plan Day 3: Open RingosPlan.plan, send views to RingosLayout.layout etc etc etc
  3. Sure enough. Scooting that elevation line on the right over a little bit and adding a Terrain Break between those lines will create a break in the terrain where you can add a wall or boulders or whatever. Or using a Terrain Retaining Wall instead, you'll get this
  4. Just looking at the picture I'm assuming you're using regions and lines, but not actual terrain breaks or retaining walls. Check out: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00646/placing-a-retaining-wall-in-the-terrain.html
  5. You'll have to relink each of them. Yeah don't waste time doing that, the Referenced Plan Files link does this for you, swapping out the links in all layout boxes to the newly linked file. Relinking 4 plans is a lot faster than relinking every Layout Box on your layout. One suggestion you may see floating around is to avoid using Save As like this and instead keep the Layout linked to one root Plan file, only using Save As as a sort of archiving save. But because when you do Save As it changes the active plan to that newly named plan, you need to Save the active plan, use Save As to create a copy, then re-open the original. That way you're only ever working on one plan, the name never changes, and all layout boxes remain nicely linked up.
  6. Touché, touché. In all fairness I'm not WRONG, you can't edit the symbol directly, but that is a great and clever way of creating a new symbol out of existing ones though. It should be noted that Delete Surfaces can be finicky. If you do anything to rebuild the 3D view they'll come back and you'll have to re-delete them. It's not really DELETING anything, just temporarily hiding them.
  7. Generally speaking you won't be able to. This comes down to the Material Components defined in the object. For example the Contemporary Chair only has two material components: the "seat" here applies the same material to both the seat and the back. Unfortunately this is not something CA can control, you'd need to do that in some 3D modeling program.
  8. The vaulted ceiling in the main room is forcing Attic walls to build above, blocking the dormer. Open the large room. Check Flat Ceiling Over This Room Open the broken dormer and press OK (or copy a new one over assuming you've deleted the broken one already) Uncheck Flat Ceiling Over This Room
  9. You could make the Music Note out of 3D Solids, save it as a Symbol, Hardware specifically then apply it to the door as a Lock and adjust the symbol's Offset to move it around
  10. You don't need to draw Joist lines across the entire room, they only need to be in the area where floor framing is gonna happen. not sure why but they're just in bad spots, draw them like this and it works fine (assuming that's what you're looking for of course)
  11. They shouldn't generate on invisible walls at all, but try opening the wall and checking the No Room Moldings options on the General panel.
  12. I'm not sure what exactly you're asking, but it sounds like maybe you have a bunch of captured images you're trying to import. If so, try this:
  13. Literally just Send to Layout. It's no different than anything else in your plan. While it's typically recommended that Schedules should be in a CAD Detail page, even if they're in a Plan view or an Elevation view it works all the same.
  14. When you select the Exterior Room, ALDO shows the "Rooms" layer selected, so that is it's layer. What exactly for?
  15. Not really sure, its hard to tell from just a photo. Would definitely help to see the plan file.
  16. Check out https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03012/creating-a-storage-loft-in-a-larger-room.html
  17. That's all baked into the 3D Model, nothing you can do to change that in CA. Might be able to change it in some 3D modeling software but I don't know much about that stuff.
  18. Looking at your other posts, I suspected a theme. So I downloaded the plan you linked in your other post and deleted your roof and wouldn'tcha know it started working fine. Looking at the roof planes, it seems the roof is too low for these walls and they're cutting into the floor structure. Not sure why thats breaking poche tho. If you raise your roofs some it works fine. Probably send that in to CA to look into. Don't seem right.
  19. It looks like this view has Hand Drawn Lines over top. It seems they just do that for 3D plants. Never noticed that before. Probably report that, doesn't seem too desirable. The wall lines though is hard to say why without seeing the plan. Might be some wall type issue. I assume you see the same lines in a Vector view too? Post the plan and we can check it further.
  20. Turned on Auto Rebuild Framing, aligned the gable eaves on that side. Seems fine now.
  21. Well half the problem is that you've already placed a wall light, so you're just moving a wall light around and it's only going to attach to things like walls and other random objects, its not going to change back to a recessed just because it was pulled off the wall. If you go back and grab the light tool again and place it near where you want it, avoiding snaps that change it to a wall light, then you can move it, center it, etc., and it'll still be a recessed light. Also I'm pretty sure this did the same thing in X15, I know I've run into it in the past. but yeah it can be kind of annoying.
  22. Yeah, that does add to the confusion. Line weights are a bit different than overall scale though. Even in Imperial plans line weights are scaled the same as they are in metric plans (you can find this under File> Print> Drawing Sheet Setup) because they represent plotted/printed line thickness. So a line weight of 1000 would be very, very large. It may make it more visible in plan view, but would be massive when sent to layout. Is that the actual issue? that these lines are too hard to see and manipulate while in Plan view? If so, go ahead and bump up the Line Weight so its big enough to comfortable work with, but only do that while in the Working Plan View / Layer Set. Then when you send the view to Layout you can switch to something like the Plot Plan View where you can adjust the printed line weights. This allows you to adjust the line weights for working vs printing.
  23. You can, but you shouldn't need to. You said you're working with Imported Terrain, is this terrain view being sent to a Layout page? Or are you printing right from the plan? The reason I ask is that when they're sent to the Layout it will use "Layout Line Scaling", so regardless of the line weights in the Plan, the Layout draws them the same relative scale. Here's a 1:25 scale view of that sample plan with a 1:100 scale, notice how the lines are the same size
  24. One issue is these polylines are very large, so you won't see a big change when the line weights are changed unless you zoom in. Here's some walls around them zooming in closer, that pink box is about the same line weight as the walls, which are 35 That pink box is not resizing like the rest though because it's set to a specific weight Check "By Layer" and it will resize as expected.
