  1. Hey guys. For some reason I have my grass slope bleeding into my second floor. I have confirmed all corners are connected, looked at floor and ceiling and just about everything that I can think of. My first floor is fine and acting the way it should. As many of you know I have struggled with my sloped hill and foundation setbacks. (Even did the webinar ystrdy). Any pointers would be helpful. Enclosed are a couple of pix to help my explanation. Thanks in advance, JSnell
  2. So I dont seem to be havng good luck on this forum. I got one guy downvoting all my posts, so I have him ignored, (hopefully that means he cant see me either). And this guy reported me and stated I was hacked and had my question removed. My question is a legit question: The OP asked about sharing objects and textures (Specifically a garage door). I didnt know if that was legit or not. I have found in some templates offered by CA, there are textures, calibz and objects not in the CA package. So I was simply asking if it was okay to take them and add them manually. And it sounds like objects and textures are free to share, so my question was answered. For future reference please reach out to a poster if you question a post... Usually hacked accounts will have links to bad sites, malware, virus', ransomware, inappropriate pictures, etc. No where, anywhere close did my original post warrant any red flags. Have a good weekend everyone... /sigh JSnell
  3. I woke up this morning to almost all of my posts being downvoted. I offer the best answers I can, based on my knowledge and experience, (which admittedly, isn't much). But vengeance downvotes is pretty petty.... This is why I answered what I answered aboive: "Chatroom A chatroom for registered users for topics related to Chief Architect that don't fall into another category"
  4. I'm not sitting on the computer, I'm on my phone, but I think I just saw, you can create a floor and then move that floor below. I'm guessing you would have to change your build elevation and maybe manually change walls to cement foundation and floor. And maybe there is a whole other way, but this might work?
  5. Ok so here is a thread I can actually participate in. I own an IT consulting company, (MSP). A few things that have come Bible to us is: - Don't rush to get the latest OS... on ANYTHING... Mac, Windows, Droid, iPhone. Let the public test it fully and get all bugs out before you switch. - If your device is working perfect, don't get new drivers. "If it ain't broken, don't fix it." Only install drivers to fix things. (Some will argue this, but 26yrs of useless headaches have taught me). - I'm new to CA and when I see "update available", I want to research the patch. Is it a security patch? A bug fix? Or did they add 2 new countertops? Not discounting CA, but as I said in another post recently, programming is a nightmare, God Bless the folks that do it, cuz I never could... If the patch is a security or bug fix, go for it... If it's just a feature update... Let it go until fully vetted... JSnell
  6. I agree. This is a very general Q about Mac limitations with video cards. No need for a sig on this question, you basically already told us your computer. And as for chat vs General. This is about as general a Q as one can ask, I think you're fine. +1 moving to Windows, your Graphics, SSDs, memory options are virtually unlimited.
  7. What every kid playing video games has said over the last 25yrs...
  8. Well I dont have the skillset these others have. I think it looks great. I kinda wish my kitchen floor WAS that shiny... If I could change only ONE thing, it would be the handle on the cabinet upper left of the stove. Would be nice to grab spices, oils, ingredients etc with a door that swung open away from stove. Maybe the same with the lower for pots and pans?
  9. Is that Chief Architect? Sorry for my naivete, but that looks awesome... like a photo... JSnell
  10. First off, good work on the roofing... you are learning better than I am. I see what you are talking about in the second picture. Is there a way to raise the dormer? Increase the baseline of the dormer? And\or move it forward a bit? It looks like they need to be pushed to the lower roofline just a few inches, and the other 'protrusion' might be resolved by raising the dormer 'level'. Not sure I am using the correct terms and not sure how to actually do what I am suggesting, but maybe those can help? JSnell
  11. Yes I did also. Her info said she was into marketing so I blocked her and removed her as a follower. I think the Admins should see this also. JSnell
  12. Well that made it kinda simple... thanks Michael. I hadnt used the word "stepped" until I saw my little drawing and made my post. Thank you again. JSnell
  13. Morning guys- Im having troubles building foundation walls on slopes. For example a 'walkout basement' should have basically no height, but the backside of that will be at 10ft. How do I create 'stepped' foundation walls on the sides with different heights? And then after that, how do I build an exterior wall on those steps? (I've tried to search videos and KBs and no luck so far). Hope my question is clear, please let me know if not. Arch x13 JSnell
  14. Thanks Java- Been here done almost everything you've brought up. First, I am in almost agreement with you on the garage, I personally don't care about a garage, (summer months I have a ladder rack on my truck). I can park on dirt, that's fine. Power lines, if we need to crane anything in, ya just move the lines, ya pay for it, but its cake. (My father in law is a retired Avista lineman, did it all the time.) The retaining wall was easier than you think. We have already built one and KC and ITD passed engineering with no issues. (See enclosed pix, Wilbert Precast did all the work. AMAZING company, will use them again in a heartbeat.) Also there are houses on much steeper grades than what I have, basically cliffs all along the eastside of the lake. I am currently speaking to two different companies, neither are anywhere close to the $1.3mill you are mentioning Trailer, we currently have a "Destination\Park Model" Trailer for temp. Lastly, we are not looking to build anywhere soon. Not until we get someone to turn this nightmare economy around. I'm not paying $7.50 a board for 2x4x8. I know almost everyone at KC Building and unfortunately ITD so there will be many discussions, permit approvals and talks before ground breaking.
  15. Thanks Michael. Yes, they are right here somewhere... one of our former neighbors kids is all grown up and works there now from what I hear. Unfortunately, CdA and this entire region is skyrocketing with an influx of 'outsiders', lack or Archs, Engs, Construction workers. etc is what pushed me to try some of this on my own. These stairs are still not done and its taken me 3yrs to solo this nightmare here...
  16. LOL Rich you and me both. This is my first draft and think I will be starting a new build this week. The important things were me finding the corners of the house with the property line not only on a bad slope, but on an 'unsquare' angle... Jerrell
  17. I agree Drawz... excavation, footings, foundation and walls are gonna hurt. I also dont want to do 4 stories but I need to gain elevation. Once I get this 'ballparked' better, I will present to engineers and archs and see if this is even possible. Jerrell
  18. See? Still learning. Most of my Qs are Architect related as that is the trial I am looking at purchasing. This was just a fun post I wanted to share with the guys who have helped me so far. JSnell
  19. As some of you know, I am completely new to this and trying to learn as much as I can with both Home Designer Suite and Architect as my wife and I attempt to design a house. We are mimicking the Lake-Point Template as we also need height due to our slope. I can't figure out the nicer, flat, roof lines of that house, it always ends up messed up, but this is what I have been having fun with. I know the foundations are all messed up and I have a floating sidewalk, but I am learning... Anyway, feel free to watch, turn up the volume and have a good Friday! (this was just for fun, don't beat me up on critiquing) https://www.dropbox.com/s/mf3kthmc8omyeyu/WT5 VH_trial_0.mp4?dl=0 Jerrell
  20. Thanks guys for the responses. I knew AC cant block the seller directly but would need to request the seller being delisted. I flagged the seller but I, alone, can't get them delisted. Also thanks for the link to offering products for sale. Will look at tmrw. That is the only downside to this drawing fun, is I look at computers all day. Makes it painful to look at them for fun. Jerrell
  21. As a DIY'er Im trying to find an affordable license and thought I would look at eBay. Wanted you folks to see this (pretty obvious) illegitimate auction from Hungary. ☑️Chief Architect Premier X13, Late￰st Ver￰sion For Wind￰ows | eBay No way this is legit, hopefully CA can shut this down. Jerrell
  22. Thanks to everyone who assisted. I was able to sit down and figure out what to do. I have all my elevations entered, even have blue water (lake) at the bottom and paved road at the top. Part of my problem was the TOPO had our deck and stairs in the map with a zero elevation. Once that was removed the terrain laid out nicely. Now to start building! Jerrell
  23. Thanks Mick and Robert. Im folding up shop. I really do appreciate your help through all this. I am just too green, I can admit it. Thank you again. Jerrell
  24. Ok I am about to give up. I entered all the coords as per Micks recommendation, it tells me it has 2million point to calculate... when I do it, it spits out a 3D image that is MILES high and then adds these green areas to the NW and SE of my property...
