  1. Same here, been subscribed only recently..
  2. Chief's YouTube channel is worth subscribing to IMO...
  3. That works but you can change them all at once using the steps above.
  4. In Layout window Tools>Layout>Referenced Plan Files. Change the ref'ed plans here.
  5. Very well done and might answer a lot of beginner's questions...
  6. I think the answer to the original question depends on the nature of the inspections/permits and/or lack thereof. If it was me at my house over the weekend it would be down right easy to find a way to brace what's left of the stringer. A couple of glued and screwed 3/4" plywood gussets comes to mind. or steel plates, or...Pretty sure whatever the condition I, as most of the builders here, could find a way to make it strong enough to present no future danger. If, on the other hand you are designing the bracing for permits or an inspector all bets are off and you might need an engineer to verify a fix.
  7. ...so helpful and informative. Just saying a thank you to everyone here.
  8. You could try drawing the foundation for the stoop on the foundation level, select the room that is then defined by those walls, then in the structure tab change the ceiling height of that foundation room to a more appropriate value, which will bring the floor of that room up. Probably other/better methods but this one might work for you. stoop plan.plan
  9. Good idea of course re: the template but just realized I never include this info in my plan sets. Maybe it's time to set up the template to deal with the eventuality. Thanks Chris
  10. Always appreciate your feedback Mick but I think the signals got a bit crossed here. The video was posted before your suggested steps and wasn't intended to reflect those suggestions, so yes I didn't follow your instructions in the video. When I did follow your instructions it worked great. I didn't read through the dbx that I got when placing the sink as a 'free standing object' - check yes and it all works great. The dbx I got previously I couldn't change layers with the sink I was using (dunno why) but then it worked fine and with invisible line for the cabs in the ref set, piece of cake. Thanks for the follow up.
  11. Yup just a little effort and it's customized the way you want it.
  12. Does OneDrive have versions or history you can revert to? Depends on where your files were originally located.
  13. Looks like inset sinks must be set in to a cabinet and end up on the CAD default layer and can't be changed, or I can't see how.
  14. "Would depend on where Fixtures are if not on the foundation Level.." True that. See if I missed something in that vid Mick. I could not get the sink, once placed in a cabinet, on a different layer than what's default from Chief (CAD default). Gonna try your suggestion but would rather not have to go through too much for each sink..
  15. There appears to be a way to display just the sink without the cabinet. Stumble through the technique but it seems to work. Correction from Eric below. Just choose the blank line style for the cabinets in the ref set. ref_set_3.plan
  16. John, do you use DropBox or Carbonite? DB has a version/history feature that allows recovering older versions and CArbonite backs up everything..
  17. This is most likely the problem. X12 allows for multiple ref sets so you can set up a single ref set just for your plumbing/foundation view. They are a bit tricky to get the hang of but once you do you will most likely use them on every plan set.
  18. Curious, are the plumbing fixtures on the foundation level? If so simply turn on the fixtures layer to show them in position. If not then a reference layer SHOULD give you what you want as has been suggested a couple times. Have you figured this out yet? Do you understand ref layers? Perhaps post a plan and the smart guys can offer more help. Also curious about how you generated the image you posted?
  19. That screen shot was from a video tutorial using X8 so maybe so?
