Chief Designer? Head Designer? Designer in Chief? Head Design Guy?
-
Yeah thanks Glenn, I tried to explain that discovery in that last video, poorly apparently. Thanks for the help as always. Didn't know about the check box for FOV. Luckily the fix was really easy, just hadn't seen it before.
-
Hey Mick try the 'I' and 'O' key and see if you can duplicate - never knew this, and thank you for your help.
-
Brad, Thanks for your attention. I was able to duplicate the problem by, as you suggested, moving the camera way out using the 'O' key and correcting it by using the 'I' (move camera in) key. Interesting, never knew about this phenomenon. Hope it helps others. Here's a quick vid showing the phenom.

...and now it looks perfect, like always. Ho Hum
-
Camera is however far is it when clicking the button. Never adjusted or had to mess with camera distance before but I'll check it in plan view. Thanks Brad..
-
No other plan shows nor has ever showed this so the computer is probably fine. It's just this plan and will probably have to live with it. Tech can't see or find a problem either.
-
Perspective Floor Overview showed the problem and it's coming and going now. One view port is good another bad. Still on Win 7, all vid drivers up to date. Never seen it before and seems to be plan specific. I created some custom materials and seemed to happen after that but makes no sense that that's the problem. Probably going to have to chalk it up to experience and just get r through this plan and presentation.
-
Definitely not Z-Fighting - confirmed with tech - but it kinda sorta looks like it.
-
Now it's coming and going. I'll just have to find when it's gone and record my presentation to the clients.
-
Here's the 'entire plan' Z - FIGHTING PLAN.zip plan"
-
Tech has the plan and can see no problems.
-
Only in the 'Perspective Floor Overview' and I really don't want to change my camera settings as this hasn't happened ever in any other plan so I don't want to mess up the settings that have been very very good to his point.
-
It's checked - thanks Greg.
-
Thanks Jonathan - It's very close. Just spoke to and sent the plan in to tech support. They didn't know the cause.
-
This just started up. Never seen it. Anyone else?
-
Nice Tommy.
-
Are printing to 'fit page' or 'to scale'?
-
No transparent text in Chief. What is it you're trying to do? Watermark? That can be done with gray text set to the back Layer, but no transparent text in Chief that I know of.
-
Never knew that.

If you're serious about learning Chief then why not? This forum will get you up to speed pretty quickly but be prepared for a fairly interesting ride.
-
You can't save, and hence can't post, a plan from the trial version. You might be able to grab a screen shot to explain your problem, but the plan file is always best so the forumites can see what you're doing wrong/right.

Hey Scott, glad you got it worked out. I think the nature of your question, drawing simple exterior walls, lead us to think you weren't really trying and just 'trolling' the forum for a response but not really interested in one. Since you've now formally introduced your self please feel free to ask questions about any aspect of Chief. You will find some amazing help here on the forums.
-
You HAVE to be doing something wrong and probably like Dennis is suggesting you might be stuck in a mind set from another program but drawing exterior walls is giving you problems? There's something else going on as a child (7 years old obviously) can learn to draw exterior walls in Chief.

buzz, Try going to Defaults>Layer Sets>Cross Sections and set up any Layer Set you'd like as your default.
