  1. Hey David. Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. That is not exactly my situation. The room divider does not line up exactly with the end of that protruding wall. Scroll up a few posts and you'll see where I am trying to place it. Is what I want to do possible? Thanks again for the help, Kevin
  2. Ryan - that's a possibility, but if I do that with this configuration, the end of my protruding angled wall won't form a 90° return. The addition of the new divider wall will form a 135° angle when the jambless doorway is added.
  3. Here is the closest I can get. As you can see there's a small triangle of non-defined room which will mess up the transition when I raise my ceiling in the great room. Any ideas?
  4. Thanks Eric. The break between rooms actually takes place where the I'm showing the vertical dashed line. I can't see all the detail in your image, but I believe you are breaking it where I show the red line in the attached. Can I use the break tool and return the perpendicular room divider back into this section? Kevin
  5. I need to separate two spaces to change ceiling heights. When I use the room divider where it connects to an existing wall, it changes that existing wall's dimensions - see attached. I have tried using two room dividers to create a perpendicular break to no avail. Would someone please help me out with this? The red line denotes where the room divider is to be placed. Thanks, Kevin CHF_David 1st Floor_AS-BUILT_02-25-20.plan
  6. Thanks Chop. Unfortunately, the radius is too small (only 1/4") - no room for text. I'm using a text leader and it's okay.
  7. Thanks Eric. That's helpful.
  8. I can't find an answer to this. Is there a tool in CA where I merely click on an arc and the radius will be returned (like in AutoCAD)? I realize I can just use a leader line and fill in the blank, but would be nice to have it automate. Thanks!
  9. That is correct. I have not had the problem since I rebooted my machine. I had Photoshop and AutoCAD open at the same time, so could have been a factor. I remember a problem with AutoCAD 2010 when PS was open - maybe something similar?
  10. That's true. Fortunately, we have our own installation crews and they know how I feel about what I call "cover up" moldings.
  11. I just restarted and everything seems to be working now...
  12. Thanks Mark. I guess I could use a CAD detail and get as accurate as I'd like. I try to avoid scribe molding as much as possible - always encouraging the installers to scribe the filler close enough to caulk (admittedly, doesn't always work though). Kevin
  13. Thanks Graham. I think the dim override will probably work in this case. Kevin
  14. Mark - It is definitely the rectangular polyline for which I am trying to enter coordinates using the tab key. I can reproduce it over and over again. Same thing with entering coordinates for the polyline. This is the latest update to X12 from yesterday (or the day before - can't remember). Thanks.
  15. I'm drawing a screen molding in plan view using a rectangular polyline. I hit tab to enter dimensions of X=.25 and Y=.75 (first image). The result is a 24" x 24" square (second image). Can anyone confirm this as an issue for them? It seems to be the case with a polyline too. All of a sudden I am unable to enter coordinates to draw shapes.
  16. I have a wall with an overall dimension of 187-1/6". This wall is to be filled with built-in media cabinets which will require that the fillers at the end be accurate to 1/32" (.0625/2 = .03125). I know it's an impossibility to manufacturer the cabinets to such accuracy, however, in elevation view, the individual cabinet components do not add up to the overall width of the wall because of Chief's minimum 1/16" accuracy. Is there a way to make the fillers accurate to a 1/32"? Or the whole plan for that matter? Thanks, Kevin
  17. Thanks Mick. Learning lots from this thread...
  18. Thanks Michael. You are correct on all points. I didn't know the limitations of the tool until I saw Steve's video. Having an AutoCAD background, I was hoping for perfect alignment; however, your recommendation of using a CAD mask will do the trick. Thanks again!
  19. Wow. Thanks Steve. I definitely have a better understanding of how the tool works. Putting some transparency on the framing layer really helped to see how CA was creating the intersections. Again, the video is very much appreciated. Kevin
  20. Steve - When I select the smallest wall, I get 6 edit handles (image attached). Are all 6 of these handles specific to this smallest wall or do they pertain to the adjacent walls too? Sorry, but this is confusing to me and I can't see clearly what to do in this case. My first thought is to create a miter, but moving the handles does not produce this... Help!
  21. Steve - thanks for the input. I do know about wall layer intersections, but not really sure what I'm doing in this case. I've watched Chief's videos on the subject using X6, but they don't really go into a lot of explanation. You wouldn't happen to have a video on your YouTube page, would you? I believe I have watched all your videos and don't recall seeing one. Is the goal here to miter the wall layers or connect them in another manner? Resize about Inner Surface is my default setup as I do so many as-builts measured from the interior. Thanks again for you help. Kevin
  22. Thanks Alan. I've tried that a few times and my wall dimensions change. When I attempt to correct their size, the joint breaks again.
  23. I got three new issues with this plan. How do I resolve the two circled intersections? I've tried the wall intersection layer tool, but having no luck. Also, there's a return air vent where marked and the framer used two 2 x 4 studs back to back. Is there a way to get the walls to sit next to each other? I'm having all kinds of weird things going on when I pull the outer wall over. I will remove the drywall from this unfinished area, but wanted to know the process to keep CA from joining these walls. Thanks again, Kevin CHF_David 1st Floor_AS-BUILT_02-25-20_V2.plan
  24. Thanks Eric. I just stumbled on that technique of over drawing and then adjusting... Kevin
