  1. I have a new request and wonder if it's even possible. The carport and storage room (below) needs to be raised 4" below the main home finished floor. Obviously that will make it impossible to pull into the carport. I need to gradually slope the terrain to enter into the carport on all three sides while keeping the terrain around the home the same. Have any of you done this? They basically want to avoid having to enter the home with stairs.

  2. This more out of curiosity than asking for help. Has CA resolved a way to close off stairs that cut through another room? I have been drawing pline solids since X10 and wondering if you guys do it another way. Example below.

before                                                                                        after with pline solid and drywall as material

This shows X12, but the info is still applicable.

Thanks solver, I am going to try and get the file size down and post the plan. The thing is not all the walls have those lines showing. We do alot of brick homes here in the south and 95% of them that I do give me no problems. This one is one of the few.

Post your plan or send me a file download  link and I'll point out the problem and solution right away.

Found another video that showed how to fix it. By the way, If i upload a google drive link to a plan file does that link pull up everything else in my google drive?

  5. Just curious if any of you use roof labels for your elevations instead of manually placing pitch marks. It sure does save a step on all elevations and cross sections but is it normal? I have always added pitch marks but like I said just curious.

Those walls should be your exterior wall type with the lower wall type set to use the interior wall (Roof> Lower Wall Type if Split by Butting Roof). Make sure balloon through ceiling above is checked for the side walls.

Worked Great Rob. And the front and rear walls were resolved when "pony wall" came to mind. All is good. Thanks.

Hey guys, here is a new one for me. All ceiling heights in the home are 9' except for the mid wing which is 18'. I need the walls as shown below but the front and rear walls are one entity and the side walls are shooting up as 4" interior. It is almost the opposite of "lower wall type if split by butting roof". Suggestions? I am giving away upvotes left and right for advice. :D

It looks to be updating to me but it is not auto correct everything software.  You need to increase the fascia size when you increase the rafter size and sub fascia.

AHHH, you are very correct chop. I thought I caught that but they should be 7 1/4". Thanks

    Agreed with the replies.

Everyone should be familiar with the 3D Solid tool which is invaluable.

Making 3d shapes is quite straightforward once you get the hang of it.

Here are some steps below. In addition, a CAD file of the bracket so that you can try it out for yourself.

That's the best way to learn.

    All the best.
