  1. Mr hall has an interesting method of handling revisions here:
  2. Looking at some threads I did not find many. I was asked to furnish alternate front elevations. The columns on the porch will change. The wall finish will change from stucco to siding and the font hip will change to a gable. How does one accomplish this showing two elevations in one plan? Perhaps I did not find the relevant post or video for this problem. Thanks
  3. Center Line Dim with Center snap still snaps to the sides of the blocks. Maybe I did not do it correctly? Do you have to do one at a time with this one too? The other dim is the one I created using End to End with Mid snaps.
  4. OK figured it out using END TO END with midpoint snaps Draw only the first dimension & then use the diamond grip to drag another dimension to the next block. Before i was trying to create the entire dimension string all at once. Thanks
  5. Ok How can I EASILY create dimension to the center of the block? Do not like using Point to Point because I can not easily edit the locations of the point without moving the point & then the adjacent point, next dimension. I wanted a dimension something like MEASURE or END TO END creates. Attached is how I want it to look. Thanks Foundationx8.plan
  6. Michael you unraveled the mystery. The Square grip is in view when I am zoomed in and near the end of the horizontal line. The round grip is out of screen as the line is some 40 to 60 feet long. Wonder why the round grip is not on screen. The square grip shows the Multiple Copy cursor when you go to grip it. But when I use the round grip all is well. The square grip works only if you keep the mouse lined up. Thanks for your time.
  7. Hey, were are waking up here in Florida. Great video glenn, very informative. The problem I have is with the "Multiple Copy" command, sorry I call it the ARRAY command! Set the distance short to say floor framing thickness (16" on my system) I have Ortho ON. Joe I did not see where to set SNAPS angle to 90. Try the "Multiple Copy"
  8. Thanks for the replies. See attached OK when I do a short offset as in the picture 16" up for the next line my mouse can slide off to the right in this case enough to make Chief think I want something other than 90 deg. I think I have the setting correct, see attached. Just seems like I could hold CTRL or SHIFT to force exact Ortho but that isn't the procedure, what is the way to force Ortho only?
  9. Sorry i did not search the manual for this one but when I offset a line I use for elevations it sometimes strays off 90 deg. I have the angle snaps on but it will still snap off 90 deg when I drag to offset. How can I lock the angle?
  10. These are not wooden windows so Depends on the Aluminum extrusion. The mullions are between two panes of glass. So No not to me. If I set side width to 1/16 the mullions appear. But my point is the manual is incomplete. IMO there should be way more illustrations.
  11. I get it now. Thanks Glenn Just turned midnight here. Happy New Year.
  12. Where in the manual does it tell you that Window Lites will not appear if the sash values are set to zero?
  13. glenn not sure I understand that cut away process This is what I am working on, see attached. Mixing the wall types is ok but when I need some fine adjustment the walls want to snap together when I don't want them too. Can you control the wall snap distance? When I create the 6" wall and add the window, pull the wall very close to the window edge then I can drag the 12" wall up to it & it behaves. But you need some working room or getting too close to another wall & it snap together before you want it too. I need to learn to cut away materiel regions too as that may work as well. Last picture is a material region before the cut away.
  14. Material Region is working. Thanks The seams still show but that is true of a lot of wall sections.
  15. OK got the 1st floor wall with 6" aluminum wall But the 2nd floor wall, pony wall with 12" wall on top of 6" aluminum wall CA generates a thick wall at the floor area tried the "no Material " to pad out the 6" wall but no change.
  16. Good tips, I'll get on this one this afternoon & report my success.
  17. My next project is 3 story building. first two stories have a mix of thick & thin wall types in the same wall. The will require pony walls. First floor will have 12" CMU maybe 4" tall with the balance 4" thick maybe 6" thick, not sure yet. The second floor will need to be pony wall with 4" thick bottom to continue from the first floor & 12" thick to finish off the second floor, This wall will have a full 12" thick wall on both sides of this pony wall. And to complicate matters a large window, store front type fixed glass with 3"x3" aluminum frame will cover the 4" wall. See photo attached. What advice can I get as to making the window go to the edge / end of the 4" wall & keep the 4" pony wall from JOINING with the 12" wall and making one wall type. Thanks
  18. Bill, that's pretty good. Did you draw one in elevation view & the other in plan view?
  19. I need to add ADA railing to steps with hand rails, steps with cable railing & ramps with & without railings. What is the best tool for this? Some straight but most sloped at varying angles.
  20. From tec support. This is controlled by the dimension defaults in the layout. Open dimension defaults and on the Primary Format panel edit the smallest fraction value.
  21. Where is the accuracy or round off set for the tape measure tool? While in layout I want round off to 1/64 or better but not while in PLAN or Section View.
