  1. Okay, so when prompted, I replaced those files with random image files that I had, and could delete those. Problem solved, though not very elegantly or intuitively.
  2. Larry, Bounding boxes exist for views in Layout, but no bounding boxes for files in a Plan.
  3. I put in a couple of PDF files into a plan on my laptop, referenced externally. (i.e. not saved in plan). Saved to Dropbox. Now when I open the file on my office desktop, I'm getting error messages that the files weren't found. I don't need the files anymore, but I'd like to stop the error messages permanently. Just can't find a way to delete the file references. Any suggestions?
  4. Are you changing the camera's layer while the camera is active? Not sure you can do that.
  5. So, under 3D settings, there is a "Program Settings" tab. Go to it, select Chief, and below that, tell it to use the correct "Preferred Graphics Processor." HTH EDIT: I should probably add that there is also a Global Settings, where you can set EVERY program to use the Nvidia processor, however, this will use more battery power, if that is a consideration.
  6. X7 works fine on Windows 7. Usually, most decent laptops have onboard graphics as the usual card, as well as the good (in your case) Nvidia card. However, to get the Nvidia card to work, you have to go into the Nvidia control panel and explicitly tell it that you want Chief X7 to run on the Nvidia card. It's possible that you are running on the low quality onboard graphics system.
  7. Don't forget that you can "stack" different views in Layout, and adjust their priority by moving them to the front, since they are transparent. You can even "gray out" a view by adjusting the transparency to make it read further away. (Need to turn on layout box layer for this.) It would be great if you could lock them together somehow so they don't get misaligned accidentally, but you just have to be careful for now.
  8. The images that get generated for the Oculus Rift are just slightly different than what gets generated on a plain monitor. This is necessary to get the 3D effect, in the same way that the 3D movie in a theater is projected. Thus the software creating the image needs to know what what kind of image to generate. Once you get a Chief model into Sketchfab, Sketchfab will generate the correct kind of image. Chief doesn't do that natively. (Yet.)
  9. If you export the model to Sketchfab, those models can work with Oculus Rift. (need to add a little code to the model name in Sketchfab. They have a blog entry on how to make this work.)
  10. Also, one advantage to roofs is the ability to use the polyline to roof hole tool, off of the "magic wand" selections, which gives you flexibility in openings that a polyline molding does not have.
  11. People have been wanting this for years. You have two choices: 1) Use your own text with a fill and place it over the actual dimension. (Or make the dimension text microscopic.) 2) Draw witness lines with a double-ended arrow between, and your text.
  12. You should consider using a very steeply sloping ROOF for this. It's easy to cut out openings for doors & windows, whereas with a molding polyline, you have to use multiple ones above and below openings. Of course, if you're just talking about a stone wainscot, then a molding polyline will work fine. Edit: Sorry, mistakenly wrote "wall."
  13. Lotta GB's in those catalog files. More than I want to sync via Dropbox. For now, I'm just copying all of the catalogs from the "Windows/ProgramData/Chief Architect Premier X7" folder to OneDrive and will copy back onto the other computer. For others, here is some useful information. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00001/migrating-chief-architect-to-a-new-computer.html Note that there is one file and one folder with registration information that shouldn't be copied.
  14. No, the Chief internal catalog file locations are set by the program initially, and I don't know of any way to get the program to "point" to new file locations. The "My Data Folder" location has the User library so that is easy to change to Dropbox under Preferences.
  15. I have a desktop at work and a laptop at home. I would like to make sure that I have the same bonus and manufacturer library catalogs on both. (User catalog is on Dropbox, so that's always current for both.) Is there any good way to ensure this happens automatically?
  16. I disagree with this approach. This is an English-based forum, and I do not want to start seeing a bunch of posts in Russian, German, Swahili, or whatever. If someone isn't proficient enough in English to write a clear post, it is unlikely that they can deal with the software DBXs and the Help files.
  17. It seems to me that all of this confusion could be avoided if floor elevations could be made KING. In other words, changing floor elevations would change ceiling heights, but changing ceiling heights could not change floors. You could lower ceilings (which would not change the floor above; it would just create an interstitial space), but you could never raise ceilings beyond the floor above. Foundations could be lowered, but raising them could not affect floor heights. (It used to be this way, where the stem wall could not be reduced beyond the slab plus ceiling height.) Also, lower floors should not be able to affect higher floors. Raise a floor with a floor above, and the ceiling gets lower; if you want a higher ceiling you'd need to explicitly raise the floor elevation above and the DBX would merely INFORM you what the new ceiling height is. This would work for me.
  18. I am not suggesting that YOU changed the settings. But check them anyway. Or post the plan.
  19. Looks like a lighting issue. Make sure you have sunlight turned on. (Check that daytime ambient is set high enough.)
  20. I think you will get better responses if this paragraph is clearer. I have no idea what you mean.
  21. To fillet the corners of the layout views, you'll need to go to the Edit MENU (at the top) and pick from the Edit Behaviors list.
  22. It would be great if the "Alt" key worked the way you think it's going to, because it then would be quite useful. (i.e. Having two different copy distances available.) However, the alt behavior only works in an array copy situation, where you copy, say, 16" in the X-direction, and 24" in the Y-direction sequentially. BTW, I would strongly suggest you add a signature line with your version number included.
  23. I haven't found a way to "unfillet" in Layout, though, once it's gone beyond the undo stage.
