    And i certainly will.

Eric, it sounded like you have not experienced this problem?

I always think to myself, surely I am not the first person to have this issue. and in this case I would have thought every man and his dog doing outside renders would have this issue, which is why I was asking the broader question.

I have experienced this issue before but necessarily with glass. As Tea Time suggested, start by adjusting the refraction of the glass.

Hi Eric, I did try this just now - although it looked like 2850 lumens was the top end, but had no effect - I had six lights in the entryway, all maxed out at 2850 lumens.

However! I have also just now begun a series of experiments whereby I'm turning off layers - and when I turned off the first twenty or so on the list of those that were visible, I was entirely successful in turning out a good raytrace, albeit with some layers missing. I will keep everyone updated if I manage to refine this to the exact layer or item that is the problem.

Make sure you check 'Default Light Set' in your camera DBX otherwise you'll only see a maximum of 8 lights.

  3. Mark:

Here's a quick PBR I ran with a new camera (I did not see an interior camera in your plan other than the walk-thru)  on X15  using mostly default settings. I also added a couple more light sources at the base of the stairs and set them for 4K lumens. To check on your end:

    • Make sure all your light sources are turned on (be sure to select 'Default light Set' in your camera DBX)
    • Increase the lumens and add more light sources
    • Make sure your video driver is up to date

    Hope this helps - Eric

  4. I have the same concern which is why i use the 3D Cloud Viewer  https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03068/viewing-managing-and-sharing-3d-viewer-models.html

This feature is well liked by my clients but it starts to bog down as the file increases in size. It would be nice if Chief provided a way to lock the file for sharing.

Another option is to offer the .plan file at an additional cost to your clients who already have Chief. There's been lot's of debate on both sides of this issue in other threads.

    Really nice work.
If I may offer a critique, your furniture seems to be floating. Look closely around the furniture legs and their lack of shadow on the floor.
Below is a screen grab from one of René Rabbit’s videos, so it is possible to eliminate this effect in Chief. Look at the stools.
This is characteristic in a lot of renderings, and the litmus test for me when it comes to judging how well a software can render.
Chief can do this. I wish I knew how René achieves this. Maybe he’ll chime in.

I see what you're referring to, it must be in the lighting. René, can you share your secret?

I think Chief’s interior rendering ability has come a long way and on par with TM.
Exterior rendering is still a challenge in Chief.

    The real problem is workflow.
Chief’s paradigm of, open dbx, close dbx, open dbx, close dbx, is maddening.
    Just ridiculous.
Chief needs to incorporate a “status bar” so that when you select an item you have access to the main parameters of that item.
This way you can adjust on the fly and see the real-time effects of those changes.

Especially for renderings, having sliders to adjust, colour, texture, lighting etc on materials, in real-time, as in TwinMotion, is paramount.

That would be a great improvement to Chief, far more efficient that the current system. I agree that Chief rendering has come a long way over the last couple of versions. This was rendered in X14...
