Keep your garage as a separate plan and then create a symbol for the garage which you can then place in the plan of the main house. This has worked well for me in the past.
-
Once the tile is placed in your plan, use the 'Define Material' tool to adjust the scale (in the 'Texture' tab).

Past versions of Chief included a option called 'Extend Terrain to Horizon' in the camera DBX. I finally came across a use for this function but now I can't find it in the camera DBX or anywhere else the help index tells me to look.

Google image search returned this...
Several sources listed.

'Hired Eric to do some 3-D renderings from some Chief Architect drawing files for a proposed triplex. Eric cleaned up all my drawings, adjusted floor heights and elevations, produced an interior furnishing design and added landscaping and hardscaping. I had a presentation in ten days and he turned around the entire project in less than a week. Final ray-tracing was outstanding. He worked with my design budget and delivered everything ahead of schedule. Highly recommend.'

Here''s a symbol I found on 3D Warehouse... https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/af5ddf24f638a55de1eaadd907cc5148/Cafe-Doors
The important thing to remember is if you classify it as a fixture when you import it into Chief, you can easily control the position of the doors when you place it in a doorway. If you classify it as a door then you will need to delete the casing and jamb so that you are left with just the door to position in a previously placed doorway.

Is this what you're looking for?

That's interesting, I'd be cautious too. If you can't find it anywhere else perhaps you can download it to a flash drive and then scan for a virus.

Have you tried using a 3D Solid?

Use the dimension of one of the existing features (16' w garage door, 80" h, entry door, etc) as scale. Not a perfect solution but it will get you close.

There are several brackets in the Federal Brace catalog which is available for download from Chief. There's also a selection on 3D Warehouse.

The easiest way would be to adjust the overhang of the counter in the DBX for the cabinet (in the 'General' tab). If you have an unconventional shape for the counter, you can easily draw a custom countertop https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01023/editing-a-countertop-into-a-custom-shape.html

thanks everyone. again, this approach is the one that I used. Is there any way to blend the lines of the 3D solid/soffit above the glass door into the walls beside it? that's what I'm bothered by.
If all you want to do is get a seamless joint between the wall and soffit, you should be able to accomplish that in PBR or Clay mode. Just make sure the outer surfaces are aligned.

Here's a selection from Duck Duck Go images...

There are also many sites online where you can download textures.
And don't forget about 'Material Builder' in x17 (3D/Material Builder). Although Southern Yellow Pine is not one of the species listed, you can probably come close using the tools available.
