You bet.  I also forgot to mention that you may want to put in a couple buffer Key Frames (one before and one after your pause) to help control the transition a little better.  You'll probably see what I'm talking about after you play with it a bit.

Michael, you weren't kidding..i had to save it 5 times for chief to save new time...how would you even know to do this after you saved it say 4 times and it didn't work?

This took me about 21 mins to render, 1604 frames, 783k surfaces, 15 fps

We can actually can create a pause during a Walkthrough.  Chief is very stubborn though and it requires some extra convincing...literally.  Just take 2 Key Frames and stack them directly on top of each other (it helps if you place a temporary point or something else to snap to).  Then open the dialog box, increase the Time by the desired amount, copy this number (unless its a really easy one), and then click Okay.  Now open it right back up because Chief won't listen to you the first time and paste that number into the Time field again.  Repeat that 5 or 6 times.  Seriously, you just have to tell Chief several times to get your point across.  Like I said...stubborn.

Thanks Michael... I will try ..  good tip

I agree....and what I saw in the new 3D shape modeling and even the new section tool in x13 fits this bill exactly to your point.  I watch a few different webinars from software companies and I'm always amazed in the Chief webinars how fast the questions devolve into "why doesn't chief do this" sort of questions.  Kinda like the issue related to truss heels I think you brought up - and then furthered into why or how Chief thought it best not to measure a heal the way every other truss company does.  This tends to happen when there isn't a solid resource the developers can use to ask builders, designers, or architects how something should work....instead they do it and hope its right.

It sure seems like chief doesn’t actually have people that understand real world construction standards... I 100% agree on truss heel.. Mitek the largest plate manufacturer for engineering plates for trusses and every other truss fabricator specifies truss heel height from underside of sheathing to top plate... so why are we even talking about this?

It is the accepted industry standard ...

    Why doesn’t chief know this?

just like prior to x12 you could not set stringer width!

I think ca needs to hire a construction person to advise them and not hope it is ok...or maybe listen to their users a bit more.. maybe both

  5. I got my new desktop the other day Alienware Aurora R11 with

Rtx 3080 with 32gb ram 1TB ssd drive

    wow is it ever fast.

takes about 1s to render a water colour.. before my laptop took 5-10s

i had a framing model with about 20k surfaces and I ray traced with 100 passes in just over 2 mins

i also exported a spin video of a kitchen in water colour with a rotation angle of .25 degrees.. 60 fps, no problem at all...

my laptop would only export about every 30-45 degrees because it couldn’t keep up.

  6. As mentioned I do mostly remodels, my laptop is a few years old and works just fine to do an asbuilt on site but is struggling to keep up when I have a model with 700,000 surfaces.

i mostly use pbr and wc to show customers their design... because I am using the design to get the remodel the ease of which I can do this and the result is important for me.

Also I can then use past designs to show future customers how I can show them their new design

Thinks like stairs drives me crazy... they never seem to work.. so ca needs to make these kind of things work!

Anyhow I really like keeping up to date as @Alaskan_Son does and my new desktop computer lands next week... with a RTX 3080... bring on rtrt

I mainly do remodel design and what I do for window placement when doing the asbuilt plan at the home is measure to inside of windows and add 1.5” to account for frame and then measure to nearest wall and use Temp dimension to place and add 3/4”... easy peasy

And if you can’t add in your head you just +.75 to the dimension you just lasered...

it doesn’t get any easier than this, not sure what the big deal is?

You did download and install the Paint Toolbar.calibz File right?

Go out to the library, assign one of the colors from the imported library , then click the lower browse button too, to go back out for the Icon.png for the chosen color from whereever you saved it too ( toolbars Folder maybe a good idea)

you'll need the PNG's above too if you want to use Rene's Icons.

    M.

I did download paint toolbar, not still getting the rest... how do you assign one of the colours

4 Whites with accompanying toolbar Icons-

The Gyp Bd Texture as well as the whites have an ambient occlusion map included to help maintain shadows in corners when exposure is turned up.

    The Gyp Bd Texture:

    First download the .Calibz here:

    Step 1 - Goto Tools/Toolbars and Hotkeys/Customize Toolbars

Step 2 - Change the drop down menu "View Type" to "3D View"

Step 3 - Place 5 custom library symbols(search "Place Lib" in the search box) by dragging the Place Library Object to a tool bar location
