  1. trying to make a cabinet drawer that drops out of ceiling to expose a flat panel tv.

I made the tv a millwork item and changed drawer in cabinet to the tv, just cant figure out how to rotate the cabinet or make it a symbol that

still has a drawer but opens down out of ceiling.

Anyone have an idea how to do this?

Depends- if using the auto paneled or paneled side option it's in the DBX, accessories panel

If using a custom face - side panel applied you have need a custom symbol- increase the width and height to what is needed, lock those in the stretch plan panel, set origin so it drops to floor and move to front. (don't remember if you need a left and a right or can use the same one for left and right)

I clicked these options, why does it work for applied panels but not your custom panels?

doesn’t make sense to apply a gable and not have it go to door front?

A bit off topic…Fyi I have been using some styles and now have to make gables and fillers with cabinets because ca doesn’t include panels in styles but includes back splash.. makes no sense? Is there another option?

This was done from scratch using default template. Plan attached.

I don't know what difference starting in HD makes but guess that using Solvers method would work.

This is an alternative method to add the side panels and another way to get the dimension.

First: Instead of making side paneled or auto paneled. Make the side custom, then select panel applied.

For the side that the base cabinet butts to-split the panel and change bottom section to blank area.

Advantages are 1) panels show in plan; 2) butted side has correct panel with no need to float it in where you would need to resize it anyway.

To get the dimensions to snap to the panel-

1- pull a dimension line set to snap to cabinets but NOT to doors/panels

2-select the dimension line, open object, dimension panel-dimension default select define image.thumb.png.6602a601a79c1d3a10476f2adeee2b6e.png

    3-locate objects select cabinet doors/panels

4-grab the little rectangle at the very end of the dimension string-NOT the diamond (which doesn't always snap to the panel in this case). Pull it past the panel and it will snap a dim to it. (I find it easier and more accurate than placing a point) You don't want to start with doors/panels checked since it will snap to all the doors and give too many dims.

I'm with Scott on using molding plines  (I almost always use those instead of the Cabinet DBX) ...BUT

if you select auto offset the moldings should show correctly.

Mark how do you get these side panels to be flush with doors and go down to floor?

No rhyme or reason for it AFAIK, but I saw this the other day in one of the Bonus Libraries now......

actually there are 2 version with the same name.....

*Unless Elkay no longer sells it? so CA is using it as a generic model with Permission?

I updated bonus library and i don't have a kitchen design style library?

  5. I find that chief and other vendor libraries( kohler, elkay) dont have very many square type undermount sinks with tight radius edges.

Here is one i have in my library, its my go to for a dbl.

Here is an example of a 15mm corner radius undermount single compartment I am looking for.

Anyone have a good single compartment ss sink or library of more they could share that would be great.

  6. I was attempting to view 360 on my iPad and the movement and orientation wasn’t working on IPad.

i called into apple to see why.

They said it’s likely that the iPad uses a desktop like safari browser without orientation etc,

we managed to get it working by going into an email and undocking the icon from bottom and then it recognized it as a mobile browser and worked.. not sure if I could replicate this work around again

     anyone have a similar issue?

     What else have people done?

the 360 looks great on iPad so I think this is really important, and asking a client to do a work around is a total no go.. most can barely open and use 360 I find.

  7. I produced a 360 using rtrt set at 500 passes.. put it into a cheap google glass (using iPhone and clicking on glasses button)and had the framers on site viewed it.. they were amazed.

I have to believe a better vr glass would be better…

but this view on these cheap glasses truly is still very good.. it really does represent design.

This model was not tweaked much.. I am sure the likes of Renee could fine tune more but I just exported 360 to try quickly on site.
