  1. I was informed that the earlier 2080 ti had some serious issues. Nvidia instructed me to contact the card manufacturer and ask for an exchange since the card was still under warranty. I snagged a 3070 for $1300 on Amazon since I didn’t want to be down for 4 to 6 weeks waiting for the new 2080ti. You might want to contact nvidia and/or your card manufacturer and tell them your situation
  2. Buck, I was getting the same error message. In my case the 2080ti graphics card was bad.
  3. Cross-ship is what I wanted from Cyberpower until I found out, due to shortage of cards, might be 4 to 6 weeks out. I was able to snag a 3070 so I will probably use the new 2080ti, whenever I get it, to upgrade my other computer… unless someone makes me an offer I can’t refuse on the 2080.
  4. After contacting nvidia and showing them what was going on, they looked at the date of my graphic card and instructed me to contact msi for an exchange. MSI suggested I contact Cyberpower, the people who put the computer together because they had a quicker exchange program than MSI and my computer wouldn’t be down for 4 to 6 weeks. Cyberpower informs me that their exchange program warranty was only good for 12 months and I need to go back to the card manufacturer, MSI. Anyway, I ended up buying a new EVGA rtx 3070 for $1200, which is scheduled to arrive next Tuesday. UPDATE: Just checked and FedEx has my graphic card out for delivery today, Friday. Thank you FedEx!
  5. I don't know what to look at but here is what the screen shows when I went PBR on Chief... (screen shot on right) The GPU load got as high as 98%. One thing different now is Chief didn't crash after I turned the camera back to Standard mode but my second screen is still covered with green specks? (screen shot left) Oh yeah, nvidea had another driver update this morning.
  6. Boy! What an adventure… Mark, I did the nvidia driver routine with tech support already. I am going to go back and check all the suggestions on here to make sure I didn’t overlook any.

  10. Not sure what you mean. (wouldn't tech support know about that?)
  11. Strange thing is the PBR and ray tracing works fine on the new release of my other CAD program.
  12. This is reply to Rene... not to get confused with multiple responses. Thanks everyone Yes, one of the first things I tried... in case a corrupt template was involved. I wish I could copy and paste what tech had me do but not sure I can do it on the open forum.
  13. thanks Rene! Yes, geforce driver is the latest. Any idea what would cause the time-out issue?
  14. Thanks for the help. Mark. I feel like a child would who has been told he can't play with his new toy... only get to watch the other kids playing with the new toy.
  15. I am wondering is anyone running X13 using an RTX2080ti? I have tried several different things suggested by tech support and I also did a graphics card stress that says my graphics card is working fine. Tech support is stumped. I have been searching online for a RTX 3080 card to swap out the 2080 with but they appear to be eternally out of stock on the new 3080. Here is what I am experiencing when I try to use a 3D view, just before Chief shuts down: Anyone have a suggestion?
  16. When I first started using chief, I would setup the drawing sheet under file-print command and then click on the drawing sheet icon to show me what my work area was. On a new plan the 0,0 mark showed up in the center of the drawing sheet.
  17. We always sheath raised heels... adds shear and keeps the blown insulation out of the soffits.
  18. Can you post that wall detail, please?
  19. How do you isolate your sheathing from being in contact with the concrete foundation? What keeps the sheathing from absorbing moisture from the concrete and eventually rotting?
  20. Can you place the door into a 2x6 wall and offset the door a couple inches to one side?
