I know that there is a simple way but I am having trouble figuring this out.  I am drawing a polyline solid on a gable wall and I want it to be parallel with the angle of the roof.  How do I accomplish this, I can't find any info.  Help is greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this is the only way but try this if you are stuck.  Select your roof plane in cross section and open it to check pitch in degrees under general tab then select upper edge of polyline, open and go to selected line and set angel from roof plane the same for your polyline solid.  Should make it parallel.

Hope this is what you need.   Parallel tool does not work for me in X8.  I assume that you tried that first.

Just attaching a screen shot now not sure how it works first timer.post-4797-0-35812600-1460665363_thumb.jpg  is this anything like what you are trying to do?

Or you could take a cross section elevation.

Draw a cad line to match the slope of the roof.

Open the cad line dbx and copy the angle of the line to the clipboard.

Then select your p-solid and use "Transform/Replicate to rotate it to the same angle as the line.
