How do you show stucco pattern in elevation view

Recommended Posts

I'm new to chief. I'm using X-8.

How do you show a stucco pattern on the exterior walls in elevation views? When I turn off the color

in elevation view the walls have no fill pattern. I have been using AutoCAD since 1993. In AutoCAD

I would assign a hatch (fill) pattern of random dots that represents stucco.

Is there a way to show a stucco pattern of random dots in elevation view after I turn off the color?

Thanks,

Mike

You assign a pattern file to the material for vector views, the default pattern for stucco is "area" (no pattern at all), so you assign one that is visible using the "Adjust Material" tool - Pattern Tab.

But be careful, in remodeling when you have existing walls vs. new walls, if you add that pattern to the new walls, there will be a line between the two different walls in vector view in elevation because of two separate type stucco textures. All new const.--no problem.

Thanks David. I'm not sure how to do that. Is this under default, walls, exterior walls, wall type definition, materials? I do not see anything

called area.

Thanks,

Mike

How do I add a stucco pattern to elevations of the addition walls only ? I do not want the existing walls to have this pattern.

When I use the adjust material definitions command to add the stucco pattern to the new addition walls, all of the walls, new
and existing get the stucco pattern. I have two different wall types in the plan. One is called "Stucco 4, Existing" and the other
is called "Stucco 4, New". How do I add the stucco pattern to the "Stucco 4, New" walls only ?

      Thanks,

What is the best way to add a stucco hatch pattern to the exterior elevations ?

When I view the exterior elevations in black and white there is no hatch pattern on the walls.

I do a lot of remodels and addition projects. I like to show the new walls in elevation view with
a hatch pattern of dots. I leave the existing walls without a hatch pattern. This helps distinguish
      new walls fro existing walls.

      Thanks,

      I'm new to Chief. I'm using X-8.

I'm working on my first plan with chief. On the rear of the house there is a bay window. This bay window is a part of
a breakfast nook. The breakfast nook has a vaulted ceiling. When viewing the rear exterior elevation (North) I get
extra horizontal lines that should not show. These lines are on the 45 degree walls of the bay. They are at the 8'
plate height. This wall is at the gable end. Also the corners of the bay window walls are thicker that the other corner
      walls.

I have attached the plan. If someone could let me know how to remove the horizontal lines at the bay window and
why the walls are showing thicker on the 45 degree walls.

      Thanks,
