Dimension lines styles

Is there a way to have the line segments for dimension different styles? So far I haven't been able to mix styles for the extensions vs dimension lines.  I'd like the lines meeting the sides/objects etc appear in a dash format but solid for the actual dimension.

Just create a new layer and change the line style for that layer. Put the dimensions you want to display differently on that layer. I know this will work.

I believe that Johnny wants different line styles for the extension lines and the dimension line itself (in one dimension string).

I don't believe this is possible.

I think the best you're gonna be able to do is this...copy paste in place a second set of dimensions. Specify one as having only blank segments (new option in X8) and set the other to have no extensions at all. Assign different line styles to each.

Quick follow up.  I was away from my computer when I made that last post.  I tested that idea out when I got back to the office though.  It definitely works but its also definitely a bit of a PITA.  Not worth it IMO.  Having said that, I still think its the fastest option we currently have.  I believe every other option would require even more work.

Thanks for the input - too bad this is so difficult.  I realize its a minor thing, but when you have lots of cross lines it begins looking odd.  I've tried placing lines but then you lose edit-ability on those lines (lose connection).
