DesBldr
Working with V6 - using the current CAD layer icon to set the CAD layer it works fine until I switch to another open window; when I switch back to the original window, the current CAD layer has reverted back to previous layer.I thought this button was supposed to set it until I want to change it again... Not changing anything else (layersets, etc). Tried re-start, no change. Am I missing something here?
DavidJPotter
The current CAD layer is part of "Annotation Sets" so if you change a view, that probably also changes the "Anno Set" as well. Pay attention not only to your layer sets but also Annotation sets and set them all up in your profile plan so you will start clean next time. DesBldr
That's weird - I don't use anno sets, I'm just switching between open windows (no changes to layer sets either), when I return to a window, the previously changed current CAD layer has reverted - definitely not what is indicated by the 'current CAD layer' function
glennw
I believe David is correct. When you change back to plan view your Annotation Set is probably changing as well. Have a look at the drop down Active Annotation Set Control box. You will probably notice the Annotation Set change as you switch views.
DesBldr
Bingo! The anno set changes to 'using active defaults' when I change the current CAD layer using the toolbar button - I guess I'll have to read up on anno sets to ferret out this function. lbuttery
Current cad layer existed prior to anno-sets so there may be a way to use it without anno-sets but I'm not versed in anno-sets to say how function may have been changed when anno-sets were added ??? DesBldr
Wow-I would hope that not using anno sets wouldn't override this stand alone function. I've put off using anno sets for a while as my work flow has a comfortable 'flow' to it.
lbuttery
anno-sets are a major convenience but they are not mandatory for using Chief "everything" can be done manually as it was before they were introduced they just make the tasks easier once setup start with the OOB anno-sets and then edit or add as needed Lew
