Tray Ceiling

You need to look for something that is creating a break in the ceiling platform, such as a hole or room divider or whatever.  See if you can spot it using cross section views.  If you can't find it, then try posting the plan for someone to poke around in.

Any tips

It doesn't hurt to look at what's going on above too..  Is there a room above this area?  Different joist depths?  Weird how yesterday it was fine though...

Nothing changed since my last save. This is a tray on the 2nd floor. I ended up fixing it by unchecking "recess into ceiling" and it still pushed up into attic space. Oddly enough the other 2nd floor trays I have in other spaces worked with recessing it. Very weird. I found where I posted about this situation  last fall but nothing got resolved from it.

Having " recessed into ceiling " will raise existing ceiling or floor above the tray.

Since it is attic area above rather than floor joists and living area ,the impact is not as great and that maybe why no warning
