Material Fill Pattern to CAD Polyline Fill Pattern

Hello,

 

I'm doing some quick and dirty elevation cleanup with CAD boxes and I'd like to I have my stone fill pattern "Mill Creek Country Squire" available as a fill pattern for my polyline box.

 

 

In other words, I'd like 2) CAD fill pattern match the 1) material pattern:

 

 

I'm confused that the material pattern is not available in the polyline box fill pattern pull-down list.  How do I make available?

 

Are these material patterns different from CAD patterns?

1. Add the Material to your library.
2. From the library, right click the material and select edit pattern. Marquee select the highlighted area and press ctrl-c.
3. Back in plan view, go to CAD>Patterns>Create New Pattern. Name it and make it the same size (32"x32").
4. When the window opens, Press ctrl-alt-v (paste-in-place). Close the window and choose Save.

Oh, and don't forget to check the pattern scale...it's 1.5 for your cad polylines. Looks like it works.

Super cool!  I learned something today thanks to you.

 

It seems the process is sort of convoluted...  Do you think it's worth a suggestion to Chief to allow these patterns to be automatically available if the materials are already part of the project file?  If so, I'll make the suggestion.  Seems like material and cad patterns are pretty much the same animal unless I'm missing something fundamental.

Haha, I have a Chief .plan that is nothing but reminders on how to do obscure or complex techniques that I don't use often enough to commit to memory. And sure, it could be a word document but I'm in chief so why not access my tips without leaving the program.

Yes, an 'Add to Library' button would be great, or those patterns in use could just show up in the drop down list.
